I have no idea what you have been banned for, but since you managed to get banned on at least 3 different servers its hard to believe it was just a "badmin on a powertrip"...., when its more of an misunderstanding you can always appeal, otherwise stay banned i guess.

Also noone here has any power over this, servers are privately run (and paid) and the server owners can make the rules they like, ppl have to abide by them or risk getting banned, it doesn't matter if you think the rules are stupid or not - they still apply, if the rules of a server are not to your liking leave the server and you won't get banned there.
My steam name was clay man, and they thought I was racist.
The other time I typed a swearword in chat I don't even recall. Like what are you guys f*** doing?

And yes, I've been taking a steer clear of every server where I see others getting banned for the same stuff. The rules I can follow, but not those admins.
I can give you a clear example of something that worked. Exodus servers, I was just playing slipped, said the r-word, squaddie was an admin. Did he permaban me? No, he said hey uh, can you not say that again we don't like it. Guess what, I said oh sorry, ok sure. Maybe if more servers were like that I wouldn't be here ranting.

Also I tried to appeal but I literally couldn't because their discord link was broken (friend tried it too). I'd honestly would have tried if It worked.

Oh and you're older than most gamers, so you'd also be more mature I'd guess, something you should account for too.
But even when in my teens I wasn't teamkilling pointlessly and picking fights with admins.
This is why freedom of speech should be absolute. Regardless who and what it is.
Racist things only for certain groups only generated mass graves.
Aegmar eredeti hozzászólása:
Also it seems a bit strange to get permabanned for one count of a racist remark, or one insult/swearword..., usually it needs to be pattern of pretty antisocial behaviour to get permabanned and even on at least 3 servers...., that doesn't happen by accident.
Well too bad it happens otherwise I wouldn't be here complaining about it. But you're like a brick wall. Go try out for yourself.

If you're spewing nazi propaganda, preaching for eugenics or just trying to get under someones skin on purpose using toxic means or hate speech. Yeah ban them. But there are, these kind of badmins who go for something as simple as slipping in anger. And there's more than you think.

You don't want to believe it? Fine. That's your choice.

This is the whole problem , I was not even involved in said argument via chat to get banned. You don't see the problem with this? Where people can not even defend themselves but there is a wave of people that claim to defend others from "hate speech".

I have enjoyed squad so far with no incident until now.
If the problem was with me it would have showed much earlier than 200 hours ago.
A certain set of individuals are hiding behind excuses like "hatespeech" and "toxicity" to enforce their set of agendas.

This is how you kill a community
Stop looking for problems where there is none.

It doesn't matter what i believe, you might be right or not, i just laid out what i think are your options and how folks end up on the community banlist in my experience. Thing is OWI has nothing to do with the banlist, its purely a thing between server operators - so either go the appeal route or leave it be..., or make a new account, really nothing much else to be done.

Yes you can actually do something . Call these small server groups out and convince other new servers not join these groups of badmin's.
So they go woke , So they shalt go broke
I don't like the community ban list, primarily there's no metric of severity, and also I believe this stasi-like approach is bad in the long run.

Arguing with a moderator and he gets upset and bans you will put you on the banlist

Calling someone an ahole, tard, even 'incompetent' will get you placed on the banlist

Saying a mean word and the mod hears it? banlist. context? doesn't matter sweaty

You a new player and accidentally teamkill someone? You don't apologize? banlist

The community ban list is essentially a name and shame tool for abusive and incompetent moderators to flex just how abusive and incompetent they are. Why would they allow the public to use their tool and search for users? Why does it link directly to their steam accounts? I think it's obvious.

Why stop at squad? You say something mean in squad and an admin bans you? Why not also get banned from every single steam game you own? Imagine if you get banned from an anticheat and suddenly every single anticheat also applies your ban to their games. There's probably a reason they don't do that.

I'm sure the creators of the tool are eager for more communities to join them in their crusade against people who say mean things online. It's disgusting in my opinion and I refuse to play on servers that use it, even if I MAY run into less "toxic" and "hatespeech" offenders.

This is actually a solid point against the banlist. It should be private

Thanks, I have a habit of posting a baseline then massively editing my posts, what yo quoted was my main immediate concern though. I don't like this type of name and shame attitude I get from it.
For the record I've never been banned or kicked or done anything that would get me on this list, but it feels like willingly allowing myself to have a guillotine hanged over me if I join a server that uses it.

You are actually wrong. Squad ultimately has control over the servers, and has guidelines that server owns must follow to allow their servers to appear on the official list. That also includes not arbitrarily banning people and abuses of moderation power. Not that this thread will ultimately change anything but Squad does indeed have the power to stop use of the banlist if they wanted to.

For example, if a server says "if you use the civilian kit you will be kicked" and Squad makes a rule "servers cannot kick people for using civilian kit" that server is now in violation of their agreement with Squad and would be forced to remove that rule or be unlisted.

If you're saying ''Well I guess you're just a bad person then'' is lying through their teeth, everyone will get one ban or so, and when they do, they learn from it. It's just when you are new, or you get bad run-ins with badmins that things can go out of hand, and before you know it, you're outta luck.
Incorrect, I'm 34 and been playing multiplayer games since Quake 2, I've literally never been banned from a dedicated server. Kicked yes, never banned.
This. It really isn't very hard to not get banned on servers.

I'm paraphrasing here but if I recall the licensing agreement talks about the fact that when you run a server you can use your discretion to "protect the integrity" of the server or something along those lines. Accordingly, this is why you can make up all kinds of supplemental rules and as long as they don't break the code of conduct rules you can run your server any way you see fit. C'est la vie.

That is bs.

I just ran into an issue with this a few days ago.

I was playing in a server and was talking to a blueberry on my team about hardware related stuff and we were all leaving HQ from warmup. We split up in different trransports so I was going to finish what I was saying and typed to him in team chat.

I said something along the lines of, "F multicore systems, I just threw a 4 core overclocked in one of my and its running retardedly fast right now"

(I had just got done building an extra PC at my place for when my family comes over and had ran into a bunch of issues with it and finally got it sorted, I had a decent hexa core in it and ended up ripping it out for a OC quad)

As soon as I typed the message I got banned from the server instantly. I was like, well, I typed the "f word" and they probably have a rule against that. So I decided join their Discord server and tried to explain myself.

What I really was banned for was the word 'retardedly'. So I was like, oh, well I apologize, I obviously didn't use it as a slur, it was to describe the 'speed' of something which is actually a correct way to use the word, its also the original meaning of the word.

They admitted to me that I didn't use the word in the context I got banned for and understood that I wasn't being toxic towards anyone.

They banned me ANYWAYS and put me on the blacklist.

They're the most hypocritical people too, I've literally played with their members on several occasions. They've broken their own rules so many times, its just always been on voice coms and not something typed. There is also a member of their group with an actual racist slur directly in their name.

Ultimately, if I can get instantly nuked off a server for that and added to the blacklist, a first offender, not even given a single warning, then any one of you can be added to the blacklist.

I guarantee server admins are abusing the blacklist. They will ban people out of smite, or total misunderstandings.

An easy solution to this would be for OWI to revoke server licenses for any servers that subscribe/adhere to the community banlist.

While that story may be true or not, lets say it is - and the admins should be reprimanded for that, no question (if thats really the true and whole story). But one server admin can not put you on the blacklist and have you permabanned from the servers who share it. Has to be three at least.

When server admins are banning folks left and right for minor stuff like this take it to OWI and they will warn them and they will ultimately lose their license if ppl keep complaining.

I took screenshots of as much as I could for this reason. From what I said ingame, to the discord conversation.

The only picture I didn't get is when they told me I was banned, because they literally banned me from their discord too. So I couldn't go back and screenshot the convo.
