FOBS are useless
Should just take FOBS out of game. Theyre so easy to take down. FOBS are up for like 5 min only or less.

If we make habs cost more like 1200, then I think we need to remove ticket bleed, "capturing" enemy radio grants tickets, remove commander artillery, commander needs to be in cap for it to be captured (you can bring a cap to almost neutral but cant neutral unless commander is in cap and on ground, then you can begin to capture while commander stays in cap), I think these would be balance changes that would slow the game down significantly yet make for more realistic action;

I was thinking about something like that lately, with the whole "controversy" between MoiDawg and Captain on the HAB Meta.

Like, gameplay wise that is all over the place. Building up bases has little use right now, but primarily using FOBs as spawn points with an ammo crate and a minigame about where to hide the radio and the HAB seems a bit overcomplicated for the little use you get out of it.
A spawn vehicle would do that better and with less hassle for the same outcome in most cases.
Placing FOBs/HABs on the objective isn't much use either, even though this is where you'd need to dig in and entrench to defend it, right?
So basically the game gives you a bunch of tools, but then discourages you from using them by making them hardly useful and sometimes even counterproductive to the actual gameplay.

The awkward implementation of the emplacements doesn't help things either. It's rather difficult to place them right and basically prohibits their use in buildings to shoot through windows and holes in most places where it would be expedient. Even placing them outside can lead to a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ branch from a tiny bush blocking your view with no way to remove it or reposition the emplacement to fix that. Being unable to adjust the height of emplacements is also a shame.

So it might be more reasonable to either remove a bunch of those features or to change them in a way that benefits gameplay. Also maybe an option for servers to allow/forbid base building to begin with, so people can play the way they like without throwing two mutually exclusive tastes into the same environment.

What I was considering was merging fobs and objectives, Either by making FOBs the objectives, e.g. by turning the map into big areas and to capture them you need to build and hold a FOB inside its borders. Or capturing an objective enables you to build things in a certain area around it, including HABs.
Or emplacements/fortifications and HABs could be decoupled altogether.
Commander assets could be put into the game as physical assets that might even have to be built first. Like the commander artillery in Bf2, which existed in the world (but was unmanned) and could be destroyed by the enemy.. The same could be done for air strikes, which would necessitate a bigger antenna emplacement that has to be built and can be destroyed.
Or an a little wilder idea, give us actual jets and howitzers that need to be player controlled. Beyond the wire and even Enlisted show us that it works. And again, make it a server option to play with or without. Instead of making one game that has to fit all, make a game that can be adjusted to different preferences. The new Battlefield takes that to an extreme and I think that will ultimately be the future. Arma basically does this already, but way less accessible and comfortable than BF will.

Either way, assaulting a fortified position should be a fun and useful part of the gameplay, not some weird side activity that gets you yelled at for not playing the objective.

Reduce costs for HESCO's and Sandbags and other fortifications (but not ATGM, HMG, Repair Station) by half.

This way we should see less "throwaway" Fob's and more defended ones, making rounds less erratic with Habs plopping up all over the place and going down undefended all the time.

Should also (potentially) improve teamwork, since everything would move a bit slower = more time manuevering and less spawn-kill-die-repeat.
This makes me miss V9, when assaulting a well-fortified FOB was actually an effort

I keep saying this. Bring back v9 on OPFL as a stand alone game and I'll just play that.

I won't get into details for many reasons, mainly b/c I haven't kept up with all the changes for the last 6 months, but I do see a very large difference in game play before I took a break and now. And it honestly doesn't play / feel right.
HAB's are few and far between (perhaps that's just the fault of player base?) and it seems more of a chore to keep them up. Definitely more running than before.
Something is amiss and I can't put my finger on it. Could be game changes, could be community, could be both. ??
This is a question I wish more people would ask, rather than staying silent

I played a gorodok invasion on defense as russia vs us yesterday on Sealz server; the SL choose to make a stand at upper niva; we have 5 habs in and surrounding Niva upper; all habs were surrounded or disabled within 10 minutes of cap becoming defense point;

we ended up winning defense at grain processing

there is something really really wrong with habs and the state of game right now

5+ years of roller coaster ups and downs constantly buffing and nerfing fobs with additional layers of complexity attached to them has essentially gone full circle and has achieved nothing. Just go back to the cooker fobs and 9 spawns on the rally. Simple stuff was actually better.

I think an awesome update to fobs would be if squad members with fire support roles ammo automatically refilled in a blue circle. If your a machine gunner or a lat near a fob, you should be able to burn through ammo like if your were supported by the FOB. just an idea.

I would want less restrictions on how we operate in the game and a lot more freedom on how to use assets, like Mortars, emplacements and so on.
