Do you consider this main camping?

in this 100% completely hypothetical scenario, let's say that i'm in al basrah invasion on the british side fightning the insurgents. i drive to the 3 bridges that connect their main to the other islands and mainland, and i block the end of 2 bridges with unbuilt barbed wire (the metal poles block any vehicle and you can place a million of them) while i stay on the third bridge with a bipod and kill every logi/transport/unarmored technical that comes out of main, BUT the server has a no main camping rule in a radius of 300 meters around the center of main (so you can check by placing a fob construction marker in the middle). if i only placed the barbed wire and shot vehicles after the 300 meters from main, which is right at the end of every bridge on that map, would it still be considered camping main?

yep..., thing is player numbers are limited - 50 per team and thats it, maps are quite big so defending rear areas is not really intendend by design, thats why we have those gamemodes trying to focus fights around objectives. It simply makes no sense to have a Squad or even half a Squad to patrol around the main base routes to prevent a single cheeser placing mines or setting an ambush, the ppl are wasted 90 % of the time and can't help the team where its supposed to fight.

Now one or two player can easily do some ambush / borderline mainbase camping stuff and be effective with it - they can be countered of course but it would require a greater number and time to locate them and remove them - its often not that hard but takes time. I would not say its an illegitimate way to play, but a cheesy one, exploiting the limitations of the whole setup and often its much easier for one side because of map design.

It is a scenario where you are damned if you do and damned if you dont. If you do try to defend your vehicles it is almost entirely a waste of resources most of the time. If you don't then your vehicles stand very little chance against that one dude with a rifle. It simply isn't something you can get around.

There isnt really a proactive way to go about combating campers that is also reasonable in a normal game. You can really only expect to be reactive to the problem. It isn't really reasonable to ask if SL3 will take his BTR and escort your logi but is reasonable to ask him to kill the campers that have already starved the team of resources.
