why do servers still run AAS over RAAS?
Lots of new players lately (welcome to squad), and yesterday was an objective-rush-fest-meta-baby-seal-clubbing-experience almost every single time I played an AAS match. I don't see how certain players think it's fun to storm the first enemy point with a helicopter and then simply wait until a handful of guys drive around single-capping every flag up to the final point.

I would have thought Random Assault and Secure mode would have helped with that, but it's only helpful if servers actually stop using the traditional AAS mode.

I don't know if that is true. If it is, I think I've learned that Random Advance And Secure, have limited randomnes, making veteran players and those with spreadsheets able to better predict where the next objective will be, so not fully random it seems in terms of objectives becoming relevant as the game moves on.

Yeah of course RAAS is not truly random, nothing can be. But from my experience on French servers, whenever it's AAS, it's a one sided steamroll.
Both sides rush the enemy's second flag to stop them from capturing it. One side prevails, the other one loses, GG game's finished in 20min.

RAAS is often a club fest as well since it tends to only be the more experienced SLs that know how to deal with it, resulting in one side having the majority of their team off objective for most of the match.

I think we just have to wait for SLs to build up their knowledge (and to actually attempt to counter rush, which is easy enough)

I never liked AAS because it was the same strategy every single game. Rush the enemy caps as deep as you can go (sometimes that is even 1st cap). That ♥♥♥♥ got old fast.

At least with RAAS there is a bit more variety and I've noticed with each patch the layers get changed. So, at least it bring some uncertainty to the match even for long term players. You could try and rush the enemies "2nd/3rd point" but, it doesn't always work because it could be 1 of Y number of places.

AAS is a miserable experience and it always has been which is why for a long time most servers never ran AAS, only RAAS. I don't know why but recently there are a lot of AAS matches, presumably clans that are having their fun sealclubbing noobs.
Honestly back when the vastly superior RAAS game mode got put in the game I thought the logical thing would be completely getting rid of the predictable AAS.
RAAS personally needs to be more randomized, because like one said earlier experienced SLs like myself learn the layouts based off of each version RAAS v1 v2 v3 etc. Back when the RAAS was being developed the way it works it the flags depending on which version of the map exp (v1 v2 v3 etc. Have lanes the flags with go in (Left Middle Right) And once you figure out where all the flags points are that the map has registered for RAAS game-play then it becomes relatively imbalanced for most new comers.

Really needs to be less predictable. its very often the flag layouts are always very identical in some way. I mean the first point of the game is practically 90% the same every game. Where's the fun in that?

Hopefully when the RAAS and AAS overhaul with the next few patches over the next 6 months should make the game-mode more interesting.

I agree that RAAS could be made even more random. Most layers on Gorodok end up at Niva (upper or lower or both) so every game it is a mad rush to get to the center of the map.

RAAS is just as flawed as AAS, if not more.

The "random" layers for RAAS aren't random and if you've been playing long enough, you know where all the objective areas will probably be.

This actually makes a lot of matches play out worse than on AAS because if enough SL's don't know where they ought to set up FOBs compared to the other team, they will be totally out of position when the flags start to appear.

Also, the start of RAAS is boring as f. No one knows where they need to be so people have to just sit around waiting for the flags to be taken.

I think AAS just needs a bit of tweaking, like delay some of the vehicle spawns other than logistical so that teams aren't able to rush directly to the middle flag with their BTR or whatever and thrash the point.

Or maybe spawn in supplies near both teams second flag so they can setup a FOB right after warmup.
