How do I get a tank ?

How do I get a tank ?

I am asking because I am playing the game since I was able to buy it on steam first ( years ago ) and have several hundreds of hours by now....but I was not once able to actually mount a bloody MBT, not as a driver nor as a gunner.

Am I supposed to reserve these things now in order to get one ? There seems to be no possibility to actually reach one of these things and mount them as some kind of tank crew dudes are always faster and reserve that thing for themselves for the entire duration of the match.

Any solutions here? I also want to have some tank fun with my mates.

make a tank squad and go for the tank when you are able to spawn

depending on server

1. Make a squad named Tank or the name of said tank
1b. get something in mean time (most Maps don't have the tank immedately)
1c. wait for the 20 minute mark to get the tank
1d. Get in the tank and hope no one made a tank squad before you

2. Free for all for the tank (If server does not have a name your squad Tank or such like above rule)
2b. Rush and hope you get it first

To load up the map faster. This could help you to create the tank squad first befor anyone else.^^

I have an SSD and obviously tried everything others have recommend on here. It's just that others somehow manage to reach the tank before me.

Then too slow you are.

Maybe try a server that isn't full yet - generally gives you a better chance of getting special kits and vehicles.

Making an actual Armor Squad before someone else is the key. Have played several games where I made an armor squad and no one else messed with my vehicles. I am assuming you realize that you have to have a crewman kit as well.

Well on some server there are rules like: BMP Squad will only drive BMP. BTR will only drive BTR. The reason why you never get tanks is because all of the BTR, BMP and even Infantery Squad player are playing the game often like battlefield. The see the tank and switch immediately roles. Or even when they are a BMP Squad they still take the tank. I would call them out on this when the sever has such rules.

Some servers really overdo it with their rules...
If you're an armor squad and can't claim anything except what your squad's name is then you're expected to wait 15 mins if you get killed...

It usually ends up with vehicles just not being used.
So then infantry squad leaders have guys asking "Can we take that tank at main that nobody is using for the last 20 mins?"
And the SL goes "Sure, if you have a second crewman. Go have some fun."
It's a game after all.
Don't ruin it with too many nonsense rules.

Depends from what servers you play on.

Running a Tank squad has it's draw backs, such as commanders and other squad leaders moaning at you for not rolling the tank into a hot zone.

Me, "Where is the infantry support for the push then?"

Them, "WTF noob. YOUR A TANK GO GO GO."

Prepare for a fair chunk of this as a lot of players don't understand that a tank is not invulnerable and can be quite easily taken out if it is alone and surrounded.

In years of playing Squad as a commander and sl I have only once experienced others shouting at some tank crew really. Mostly they are thankful there is someone who somehow does it.

And the ones who do complain mostly have no clue about how the game functions anyway so their opinion is irrelevant.

People yell at tank squads who roll out to the other side of the map to kill that one logistic vehicle that happened to drive down that road they camped.

Instead of assisting against the 2 apc's that are camping habs on the defense objective.
