There should be no reason to force players to use the terrible default FOV.
If you look at other players 3D Models in game when you arent ADS your gun is in a rested position. Now I want you to imagine yourself in real life holding a weapon like that as well.
Is your face shoved all the way into the gun or can you see the majority of the weapon and see it rested against your shoulder? So, why is 90 FOV the default with your face all the way into the weapon with zero peripheral vision?
Once you increase your FOV to a comfortable position that would make sense you would think thats all there is to and you can now play the game and see and enjoy yourself, but you cant because you are met with this difference.

even while not in ADS, 120fov will make everything shrunk anyway. bigger fov, bigger monitor u should have.
there are online calculators for correct fov, it depends on screen size and distance from your eyes to screen.
I understand you have a preference.
BF V has separate fov and ads fov, in some competitive games its possible to have 120 fov and 60 ads fov for zoom...this is different kind of game.
Doesnt 120 fov make it very hard to spot enemies and just details of your surroundings?
In Squad ive never felt the need for big fov, gameplay is so slow you dont exactly need that extra peripheral vision. Not everything needs to be like cod or bf.
if ..if..
do you have problems? you do not play ANY games with locked fov below 120?
yep i think thats the case, its kinda "cheating" in its most innocent form.
When you go to ADS in game though that is not natural its an abomination lol I dont recall being at the range and looking down my sights and everything being shrunk and not being able to see ♥♥♥♥.
I cant even imagine how fking zoomed in and dogsht it is on a 1080p monitor. Honestly go grab a stick or broom and put it against your shoulder like your character does in game and compare it to the default FOV in the game its not the same and it feels oh so wrong.
P.S make sure you arent nerd necking stand straight and have your neck properly straight as well.
if you dont mind, what game does it right for you? i would like to see exactly whats the style you desire

really a perfect example of: ''i want to have my cake but eat it too *sadface* ''.
if you eat it, it is gone & if you dont eat it, it is just there so you can have it.
that is how it works, not just in squad.
There is no Negative in Battlefield(guess what these are the PR guys and you could do this in PR smart guy) or CoD, or Insurgency all 3 of those games allow you to increase FOV while ADS stayed consistent across any FOV. The New Modern Warfare added even more depth to this allowing you to keep 1x optics and iron sights to stay at whatever FOV you chose.
Then For this I would Say playing the RHS mod on Arma 3 feels the best out of everything ive played. There really isnt a "game" that does it perfectly most of the time you have to adjust it based on your setup and equipment to feel natural and most games accommodate that by not hard locking you out like squad does.
I mean like I said before once I increase the FOV in Squad it feels great until I go to actually use the guns and its awful. So, it feels natural at a standby stance, but when I want to actually engage and use the gun its not right.
