"Noob friendly" servers are pushing new players away (with proof)
The noob friendly servers are part of the root of some other issues, Sl's leaving, toxic squads, trolling etc. The noob friendly servers breed trolls.

New players see noob friendly and join to be met with the worst of the squad community, its a bad face.

So please new players dont join a server for new players, find a better server and learn the right way.

Old title: "Noob friendly" is training ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s
maybe new one can get more people.

I played on some new player friendly servers and I hoped to find players willing to learn. Players that showed the right attitude to teamwork and was willing to listen.
My experience on playing on new player friendly servers is that the admins let players with few hours get away with their rule violation nonsense. The best thing you can do is to teach new players the game not let them think they can get away with stuff.

Instead of issuing warnings, kicks, timed bans, indefinite bans (appealable) i experienced admins just writing down the name of the violator saying "if he do it again". That is not "new
player friendly" that is conflict avoidance. So If a player does something unwanted and no consequences is deliverd to the actual player that they will be aware of. how can they even have a chance to know if they done something unwanted (this is regardless if they done something intentional or unintentional), they don't get a fair chance to actually have a choice to change before it happens again.
The thing is it will most likely happen again as they got away with it the first time.
This attitude of new player friendly server admins/owner is not helping the new players, it is enabeling them.
The end result is that this spills over the other players, and when the other players see the indifference from server admins they become indifferent as well. "why should I care if not even the admins care" In the absence of control players will then turn their frustration towards new players. Many new player friendly servers do not care for the experienced players experience and their neglect results in that those players out of frustration takes it out on the new players.

"new player friendly" should NOT BE that they do not get punished when they break the rules. Unwanted behavior should not be acceptable by any player regardless their skill level

"new player friendly" should BE that we teach the players that want to be thought to get better and get rid of those who do not.

Very few servers ban and openly advertise that the ban can be removed if the player contacts them and show they understand the rules. If you ban a player (regardless skill) an indefinite time but allow the player to contact the admins with a explanation with their own words why they got banned and why their behavior is unwanted. I believe we can teach more players to change. I might be naive to think so but more often I see servers only doing warnings, kicks, timed bans and perm ban. While they can of course have a effect in preventing more violations they do not make any effort in trying to verify a change before letting a player back.

If you are going to run a "New player friendly" server, take responsibility over teaching the new players, not enabling them and letting the damage spill out on the rest of us that wanna help.

There is a difference being "new player friendly" and being "a-hole friendly"

Clan owned noob server - come join our server, good times!
Also clan - time to team stack and wipe the floor with these guys as they struggle to get out of main, play the objective, and get the spawn infrastructure up.

To be honest game itself pushes players away.
First tutorial broke twice so i went onto servers.

Mostly ran around doing nothing. Eventually joined a squad because was gonna be kicked if i didnt. Ran around accomplishing nothing attempting to stay with squad then team lost.

Then I had another one and lost. Nothing of interest or amusement happened.
Then on my last one I couldnt get out of spawn. When we started we had a squad lead who tried but didnt know game and was kicked before he could attempt to do anything. After that squad sped off without me in a truck then I ran across map until we lost all map control and i died from 1v5 alone.

Honestly reminds of experiences with free periods with DICE games. Played for free period and because i got to try them i have no desire to buy them anymore.

Playing squad during free weekend is bad, all the vets have stopped playing for the moment to all the noobs go away, best chance to experence squad is to buy the game and play for 2 hr if you hate it then refund the game

If you think this is pushing players away then this game is not for you. Game is called "Squad" not "Lonewolf". Join a "Squad".

Good, he proably didn't communicate with the other SL's. Or didnt have a mic (but as you said "he tried" I assume he had a mic). I don't see how that pushes away players. It saves players from bad SL's.

Perhaps you were not with the squad when they mounted up? You spawned in late instead of waiting for a spawnpoint. Most situations people are left behind is because they either fail to communicate or fail to listen on the communications. The other players aparently realized they needed to get into a truck and they managed to get in and you were the only one left behind...?

Problem with free weekends is that you get to experience the community at its worst as you get to meet a lot of more inexperienced players so you got get to see good examples as much as you see bad examples. And as the general concensus of the Squad playerbase dislikes free weekends because of the high influx of inexperienced players, the new players get to see SL's when they are the most triggerd.

Is there a solution to it? I don't know. I'm sure OWI is running the free weekends because they see a increase in sale, so I guess they most be working. I guess people playing during free weekends need to also understand the situation. I guess you could use the saying: "You get what you pay for" If you didn't pay for something, then perhaps you should not have so high expectations of it. In the context of Squad and Free Weekends. I guess people need to understand that you are not the only one that is testing it for free, others are too. you cant expect the same out of the playerbase. But I know people won't think about it in that aspect and instead throw blame around.

Perhaps a weekend is too short to get to experience the game? Perhaps increasing it would frustrate more veterans? I have just come to accept that free weekends exist and TBH. Every day I play, regardless free weekend, I meet bad SL's, lonewolfs and trolls. I don't notice a differance.

shhhh, you're supposed to write about absurd ideas to prevent this and how you should behave in this game, not the bitter truth about server handling in squad, IN GENERAL!

The good thing as it is currently, scripter are beeing band really fast and as OWI supports VAC, you can not only ban them for the servers but contact them to ship the request further to Valve, who locks their accounts. Pretty dope.
Still, offical servers not owned by randoms would be nice, yeah.

Only reason for offical is a more vet playerbase with rules, and no admin abuse with massive clan one sided games

Hi,

I agree, I purchased this game about a month ago, the first evening I played it I actually enjoyed it, I played in a new player friendly server, I listened to the SQUAD leader and explained I was new, and he was helping me out a lot... I actually had a good time, didn't die once, got quite a few kills, followed instructions... learned a little bit.... then I tried playing it again in multiple new player friendly servers in the evenings that followed and it was one of the worst gaming experiences I've had and I pretty much haven't played the game again since...

Nobody would help me when I explained I was new... I was being flamed the whole time (not just me) - the more experienced players were bemoaning that there were too many noobs in the server, even though the server name was new player friendly... I tried to explain, "Hey, everyone has to start somewhere, surely you were new once too?"

I really like the game, but I am pretty much scared to play it now, 1 because I don't want to let the team down, as I have no idea what I am doing... and 2 - because nobody (apart from the first evening I played the game and had a blast) seems to want to help teach/explain things.

The game is not pick up and play like a call of duty, I understand that, that's the whole reason I purchased it, I like the tactical mil sim of it all, but when nobody can be bothered to explain little nuances to me or direct me on the do's and don'ts then their is pretty much no hope of me getting in to the game, and I am a patient guy.

If anyone reads this and is from Europe (I am from England) and wants to spend a good 3-4 hours one evening taking me under their wing then I would much appreciate it, because I like the game, I just want to know what the hell I am supposed to be doing and to be given tips live in game, you can watch all the youtube videos and read all the tips articles all you want, nothing will compare to having someone in game guiding you through as you go.
hi,IM also new to the game ( only 14 hours) but i would love to play with you
