full auto recoil
can this be slightly toned down so that full auto/burst becomes somewhat viable at some range. currently i very rarely if ever switch to full auto. its just not worth it.

I was triggered to write this because I was able to kill multiple prone people with sten gun on full auto at 50m range in post scriptum. But I guess that the ROF on that relic gun was so low that something like that was possible. I guess modern ARs have too high ROF to be really controllable.

Sten fires SMG caliber gun and ARs fire assault rifle caliber gun, that is the reason.
Its totally different to fire 9mm pistol ammo and 7.62/5.56 rifle rounds on full auto.

i have many many times, rifles and belt fed, and recoil isnt all that terrible if you're used to shooting, belt fed while unsupported yes ( depending on caliber), however an m4 on the other hand, is very managable

^^ Yup thats pretty much the problem with recoil in Squad. Its overdone in the way that they treat your character as if you've never fired a weapon ever, and youre left running your mouse off the desk over compensating. The FAL is a good example of crazy recoil; On the range its a big gun firing a decent round, yet if you've fired a weapon you'll notice how easy it is to keep your sights on target. This is mainly due to the barrel being heavy, it doesnt pop up as much. In game however, my god, three shots and youre at the moon.

the problem with this is it varies weapon by weapon, an m4 is already a low recoil designed weapon system, due to the caliber of the weapon, its buffer and spring system in the stock that draws the recoil straight rearwards, the ak47 (and most variants) is not, there is no such buffer system in these weapons, and the angle of the stock also plays a part in muzzle climb, the fal also has a very serious drawback when it comes to recoil in the real world, the recoil in the game is there just as a mere sense of balance between factions, if the western factions had a realistic amount of muzzle climb and sway it'd be bascially non existent to the rest, if you don't believe me i suggest going to your local range, renting and ak variant (or something chambered in 7.62x39 or larger) putting a mag through it, then moving to something of the 5.56 range (ar15, mini 14, acr, scar-L, ect ect

what is the range you want to spray people with full auto? 200m? full auto is used a lot among players, with different results. it is pretty easy to manage, using it as it should be.

what do you mean?

to manage a full auto you dont need the best mouse and a dining table. use full auto for suppression, CQC and short bursts instead of depleting whole mag with it at a guy peeking a corner 50meters away. google the use of full auto in combat and you realize its almost non existent. there is enough run and gun players as it is now.

i dont want to sound salty mate, i can see your point. I just love this game to be quite easy to get into but hard to master, even if it brings some drawbacks for many people.

FN FAL needs a bit lower recoil, when you're a medic and need to kill some guys in the other side of the road to revive your team mates its really difficult to control the crazy recoil with an iron sight...
Thanks for the specific platforms, folks. Will pass on your feedback.
