FIXED! Server Closed Connection Error / HOW TO:

I hadn't been able to join a game since the v12 update, I had the same issue with another game, but that game had RE-prompted me to allow the game through firewall after I validated the game files, validating Squad's game files didn't give me that prompt so you have to do it manually.

THE SERVER CLOSED CONNECTION FIX !!! Like i suspected Squad had a firewall checkbox that was unchecked! After checking the box i was able to join a server for the first time since the update.

In Windows 10 open UPDATE & SECURITY > Windows Security > then Firewall and Network connection > then Allow app through firewall > scroll down until you find Squad (i had two instances of it) One instance had both Private & Public checkboxes checked, but the other instance ONLY had Private checked, click that line (highlighting it) at the top of that settings box you see Change Settings, click that, then check Public, and click OK. That was it, no more 20 minute load times followed by a closed connection error, i was ingame!

Now i just need a better computer to run the game without lag.

Awesome! I miss playing squad, i haven't been able too since their patches made my rig unable to run it. But it's so funny to see that people are still getting help from this post.

Were the boxes already checked?
Did you restart steam afterwards?

I don't have Windows 11, but this tutorial looks like it's a very similar procedure, even has the same "Private" & "Public" check boxes.

Windows Security> Firewall & Network Protection> Allow an App through Firewall> and you'll be presented with the same modal box with checkboxes.

Open a ticket with Squad then, but of course, restart your computer after you make changes like this. Then try to log in again first.
