What is freelook for?
I have it in arma, but I never use it.

You can turn your head to look around without without moving the rest of your body and giving away your position.

Freelook allows you to turn your head to look around instead of turning your entire body to the point of focus. Hold the "ALT" key while moving mouse to use.

You've never used it in arma? What? A thing I used to do in ArmA, back when I played it a lot, is as a LMG or MG unit, I'd bipod and supress fire an area, and free look while supressing to check other areas I could be shot from.

Same thing works in this game. You could quickly glance over your shoulder and whatnot without turning your weapon away from the front.

maybe one of the ideal case is
1.
when you are moving on foot, but suddenly you are under fire.
you running hardly at cover, while moving to cover, look around, and see where shooter is.
also you can use stereo audio channels to determine where shooter is.
2.
on foot...yes.
you are following road, but you may don't want turn your body because you may become little slow, because turning your body means change direction you walk toward.

basically freelook is, look around. once you get used to it, you can find it very convenient.

yea number 2 reason is the best use i have for it. so nice to sprint in direction and you can still look somewhere else without slowning down

freelook is usefull on anything stationary or temporaly stationary. In fact i still often Forget it is in the game.

Can you really sprint and press alt at the same time with conveniency?
Duder91 Feb 7, 2018 @ 4:25am
you usually use it while running, so you can see around without having to change direction

i ALLWAYS rebind the keys to a layout i use for almost 14 years now so i dont know. Also a mouse with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of Buttons helps alot too.

One of the best cases I know for using it is if you are covering a corner you can look to your side whilst still aiming your weapon at the corner, so if someone does come out you don't have to move your aim back - just release begin firing and release Alt.

When you are bandaging as a medic to look around, when you are bipoded or a MRAP and dont want to point the gun away but to see if any other infantry pushed up
