Coming from a 60hz monitor and jumping to 120hz im sure will be a huge improvement and most games will be closer to the 120fps max than 144/165fps max.
The AW has a 4ms response time from what I have been reading and 2 years from now Im sure I will upgrade my GPU.
I was worried that if I only get something that can display 120hz, that I would be missing out on 165hz and all its glory. But if I can't even get a game to play at frames that high with todays hardware, without lowering settings which I think defeats the purpose, then 120hz is more realistic.
I don't know about any FOTM triple a shooters but i do have locked 100fps in quake champions at 3440x1440 and squad can vary 60-95 fps depending on the scene intensity. this is with an overclocked 1080
I also used to own a PG279Q and it had awful backlight bleed. had to return it. Make sure the alienware isnt a VA panel. Those tend to have ghosting issues in darker scenes.
Glad to hear that squad supports 21:9
