M240 Capacity?

How much ammo can an M240 bag on the side of the gun really hold? In game, it's 75 rounds. I've heard various answers from various websites, anywhere from 50 rounds (the most common answer) to 100 rounds.

My guess is that it was meant to hold 50, but it can be stuffed with more with a tighter fit, possibly causing malfunctions.

The M240B, because it's 7.62 and always in a belt, tends to have a ton of ways to carry the ammo. When I was in we never had a bag/pouch because it was a system to set up a base of fire. We had massive belts that we would run into anything and the AG would carry the rest. Our 240 gunner had about 100rds always linked up and just slung it over the weapon. When they woudl set up the AG would grab more out of his pack and link it later. The only bag/puch I've seen is after market (not standard issue). Then again I'm speeking from Army Infantry. The Marines or Navy may have something differnt. The only system we had a bag/puch for was the M249. We had 200rd boxes that were terrible and a small puch that held 100rs of 5.56.

Thanks for the info. Stuff like the BADS is definitely aftermarket, but the in game bag seems to be original, all the way back to the original MAG 58.

honestly dont recall ever seeing any guys carry 7.62 in the bags or "nut-saks" as theyre nicknamed. just ran it in the link and would wrap the ammo belt around the 240 heat guard. 249 yea we always ran it in the box or in a nutsack which was like 50-100 rounds depending on how good you were at stuffing it in there good.

Belt fed so if they ever add crew gunners than could be whatever you want it to be. I mean ♥♥♥♥ my AG had 2,000 rounds in his A-Bag for me.

After further investigation, I found that the M240 can attach the same 100 round cloth/carboard boxes that the M60 uses, with an adapter. How often is this used? I've seen many reports of the boxes being flimsy and deteriorating.

I bet it could hold 100rds of 7.62. The nut sacks for our saw looked small but they fit 100rds if stacked properly.
