Friendly name tags
So to the point. I'm sure most of us have had that one time where we're Americans against Russians and both teams looks practically the same and the name tag isn't obvious enough or just simply doesn't show and you get a team kill because of that.

I just wanted to put my ideas out there because I do think something should be done because just in the last week I've been TK'd about 10 times due to the tags not loading in.

For the tags I wondered if instead of having the full name of the player just have the symbol of that class (or let players decide 2 initials for their character name) for e.g. I.S and that's all that would be over friendly players heads. But also that the player symbol or initial would be much more obvious and be seen from further away. (Using bright primary colors instead of very light shades of blue/green)

I've had moments where I'm face to face with a friendly but because their tag is a light green instead of something bright it blends in with the sky/sand and I can't tell if they're friendly or not.

In real life, a soldier probably knows the people he's fighting with, or at least the uniforms, and it's easier to tell when your not looking through a small screen. Just something small, but noticeable, but not intrusive.

I have always thought it would be better to have symbols instead of full names, maybe with a button to toggle names on and off.

That said, the patch from the other day fixed the delay before nametags show up.
Thanks for the feedback! We're definitely going to continue to tweak tags until we find the sweet spot.

I saw that in the patch notes but it doesn't really help. Atleast I havn't noticed a difference from playing today.

Not sure if you are familiar with a developing game called war of rights but they have a nametag system that I think would be ideal for squad. At closer ranges you see big names. At longer ranges the nametags shrink until they go away completely. (maybe you don't need them to go away completely but some sort of fading/shrinking tag system depending on range to friendlies might reduce HUD clutter). You also have to press a key to get nametags to show up, and after a few moments the nametags disappear again.

Exactly doesn't have to be a massive thing to bring you out of the realism of the game but when people don't use like TV screens as monitors its hard to tell the differences between some different army outfits.

This is great, but to make it a little harder for snipers, the dots should be removed when looking through a scope, that way they actually need to be careful on who you shoot, and the coordination between squads has to be a bit higher.

Take it further and have no name tags when ADS with any weapon. Spotting is a skill and anything that takes away from that is lazy.

I like this idea, as we already have a map that shows our teammates at all times, at the press of a button.

Ye that's also fine, my problem is when you walk into a room/round a corner and not being able to instantly know if that's a friendly or enemy.

Ye that's fine my problem is when you're in a compound for example and friendly's and enemies are 50m close so I would want to be able to run round a corner and instantly know if someone is a enemy or friendly

Must admit, the change has not made things noticeably better. The described issue is probably why I've been TK'ed almost as many times as I have by the enemy. I'm new but, it seems to me, that the tags fade in which inherently gives a delay during which the trigger happy will kill a friendly. It's a frustrating niggle in a great game.

im new to the game but this is the main issue i noticed and can't understand. why is it that name tags only appear with a delay and from close by?
When you see an enemy or think you see one, you dont want to wait a few seconds in case a nametag shows up... just show symbols or small text always and add a key to remove the full names. that simple imo
