This was last year, OWI re-did the sounds and now Squad has audio that has sounds like a generic unity game.

Just replaying so if some one know I will get the notification. Squad use to sound so good, and it was loud and when ♥♥♥♥ hits the fan the sound was just awesome. Now like someone said, it just sounds like a generic gunfight.
What the hell was that? Some yank who loves the sound of their own voice. They don't even play the sounds?
Here are the sounds. Pretty average before and after. The L85A2 sounds like it's using caps.

While I might not agree some of the sounds reflect exactly real life counterparts, it's all about what you can reproduce and can record for yourself.
Anders cannot slap on a YouTube video and rip sounds from it.
Anders more than likely cannot place remote microphones around a range and have military units launch mortars near his mics to get a perfectly realistic sound of incoming
It's time for people to ground themselves in reality of a sound guys abilities and opportunities to record audio, then place it into a game and have it still sound as required.
Those of you who possess firearms, try audio recording some of them, see what happens. See how you just can't get quality samples and clip the crap out of your audio because you don't understand how sound waves and pressure works.
Then spending the literal hours sampling and resampling and adding into the game, you'll see it's not as easy as you think.
Anders knows his craft boys, he's a professional and does this for a living. I'm 99% sure they'll be plenty of things he is working and changing constantly to create the best audio environment for everyone who has paid for this game, recording a sample is the easy part compared to getting it into the game and sounding right.
My closing words are this, speak to any Iraq, Afghanistan or any other veteran in the community, they'll tell you this games audio is as close as it gets.
We're not asking for the sound engineers to do something new and spectacular. They've already done it and downgraded from what was already good. Hard effort does not always produce good results, and this especially applies to sound design.
So you think he produced what you see as something spectacular..then downgraded it purposely to sound worse?
I'm also glad you recognise that it takes artistry to produce good sound design as well as hard work and effort. I'll look forward to your sound mod.
I say what I see, no need for manipulation.
People should try producing a mod to change the things they don't like.
Yup, what he produced is subjectively worse :)
