Helicopter controls

so i gave helicopter training a shot and the pitch/yaw etc is tied to my mouse controls.
i looked at the controls settings in the options menu and there's only really an option for 1 input for the pitch and 1 for the yaw controls.
any way i can set this up to be more like battlefield using WASD for lift etc and the arrow keys for the pitch?
or even a way to set my 360 controller up to do this?
when i rebound it to arrow keys i could only pitch forward so that wasn't very helpful

Not saying it's right, but I knuckled down and learned to fly with these strange controls and I'm pretty decent now. It's a skill and it's a reward to be able to fly. If every tom ♥♥♥♥ and harry could fly these things no one would ever get to use one with how the honor system works in this game with people getting one the whole game.

I'm a old-school BF pilot too and it was a ♥♥♥♥♥ always fighting for the choppers because they were so easy to use everyone would take one. Now I took the time and got used to it and now I'm a asset to my team because I poses a skill not everyone is willing to work toward. Just my opinion but I'm torn because I would like everyone to have a chance to fly. It's the most fun. When I'm alone I just put on some music and do supply and crew runs all game by myself.

i always liked the battlefield controls because they were easy to pick up, but you definitely had a difference between players that mastered them.
i never liked using my mouse for a pitch/yaw control

The controls are horrendous. I just took the B20 survey and wished they had an option for this. Allow more options! Reference ARMA if needed on their controls. You can literally fly with ease just using a keyboard and mouse.

You can with some .ini editing. Both joystick and mouse can be used.

Squad forums are down for weeks, there's no other source of this information on google. Can anyone share their config?

Indeed. I tried the Helis for the first time and I was used to have the roll on the mouseX and Yaw on A/D keys like on Arma 3, but I couldn't set them up. On Arma I used to fly helis quite well and they looked way more difficult to handle.. Apart of that I only should get used to absolute throttle positioning instead of relative to hover-level.

Well true. I am an old BF Veteran pilot. I can fly the helicopters here if I really want but often i don`t. Of course I am not exptecting simulation level accuracy like in DCS. But it is easier to fly a very difficult simulated DCS helicopter than the Squad helicopters. There was a weekend where i put a lot of work to get my HOTAS running in Squad. But the data was wiped so I am currently not flying in the game. I will wait until the keybind issue gets fixed.

AGREED. its not bad once you get use to it. Flying in Squad is if favorite thing to do. Once you get it down its a damn blast. Just try harder instead of complaining people damn. There are more issues than just this one as we all know!

Why should I learn to fly "the wrong way"?
I don't have a HOTAS Warthog, to sit in the corner and use a damn mouse to fly....

It has nothing to do with "learning", it is just pure BS.
I just skip Squad and don't play it anymore and I don't think you really know what "a damn blast" flying can be, if you talk about flying with M&K....

Or did I miss the new generation of helicopters that are only controlled with a mouse? Are they new in the Air Force and Army?

Maybe try harder to provoke people that know how to fly IRL?
