Can't place IED on players?

When the IED first came out it was apparently possible to place it on players. I never tried this early on, at most I placed it on motorcycles but when I tried it on players a month or so after the update it didn't work, the IED icon stays red. Was this removed or am I doing something wrong?

Apparently, from what I've heard, it has been partially fixed. People have told me that to do it still you need to be in certain rooms/conditions; I heard one guy said it had to be in a perfect spot on the head while in a doorway or something, for example.

Perhaps the developers don't want to focus too much on fixing it to avoid controversy. I can imagine this aspect of the game going viral because a TV network found out there's a game where you strap bombs on each other to kill American soldiers as insurgents.

I can't remember the reason, but the developers made it pretty clear there wouldn't be a suicide vest or anything added. So I doubt they even meant for IEDs to be on people in general. Maybe they'll be fixed in the next large update, but im sure they'll fix it by time they are done with the game for sure. Personally I think suicide attackers with vests would be interesting, but that's just my random opinion as an avid player/fan.

Someone in my squad did it a couple of days ago on al basrah think it has to sit right on top of their heads

I think that's the current state of it. Not an official feature, just a happy accident.

it kinda goes against the whole being a squad part of the game I think. Its not even useful in a match. I've never had a SL uses it as part of their plan. only seen Mid-teen kids being "edgy" roaring Allahu akbar.

god somtimes i wish this game had a mute function

didn't cover battlefield, when you could strap C4 to jeeps since.. well EVER.

The American side still tends to win against insurgents more often than not. Making it less difficult to put IEDs on players certainly won't harm the balance.

I don't know what my ♥♥♥♥ will prove but I'll pm you. I thought the general consensus was that the American side was quite op due to the Acog scopes. Besides I doubt placing IEDs on players will ever be a popular tactic. Suicide vehicles aren't used that often either but that depends on the map. Bashra is a popular map for suicide vehicles while the heavily forested maps aren't.

I seen to be able to do place an IED on players inside of a house, not outside. I don't know if it works in every house but I was able to do it in railroad village.

Putting IED on players is just not feasable. Sure you can use the bug to have some giggles but appart from that there not much incentive. Altho once i was running with another scout after he put IED on my heads and iam on his. 2 guys runnig around with their phones out wont scare anyone... :D plus it adds to your >TK counter wich i try to avoid as much as possible. Thus..i rather have a active 9 man squad than a lone yolobomb...

Placing IEDs on squadmates' heads is the right way to play as insurgents though...
