lol try Project Reality. I learned that game in the hard way. My first SL's were labeled as "douchebags" and "bigots" but hey were GOOD as Hell! (Also they were vet's)
I always ask if someone is new to project reality, arma or squad. Then I instruct everyone to
a) DO NOT pick any kit without asking.
b) Always stick to me keeping a couple meters of distance.
c) DO NOT SHOOT before asking.
d) DO NOT RUSH to the enemy.
e) Always pay attention to my directives.
f) Keep radio silence when I'm trying to organize with other fellow squad members.
If someone is deliberately and constantly breaking this rules I instruct him to attach to my rules or get of my squad.
That's the reason most squad leader are harsh and thats the way to lead. Asking "please can someone come over here and lend me a hand? kind regards" won't do most of he time.
And I hate liberals squad leaders. Then you need a heavy anti tank, an apc or a sniper rifle and guess what? Every single asset is being wasted.
If you don't like your squad leader convicence your fellow squad mates that you are better one and make your own squad.
Our clan MOTO is "lead me follow me or get out of my way" and honestly that's my life MOTO too.
Sorry for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ english and have a nice day ;)
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lefties always weaking our military!
joking aside, is it about SL who just take every vihicle they can get?
Got to love those squad leaders who promote healthy life and force you to walk 40km per game by claiming all vehicles available.
Being a SL can be a difficult task at times, you have to deal with an extra Communication channel which can be an assault on your ears but you also have to constantly be formulating plans and backup plans, including FOB's and RP's coupled with a constant stream of map marker reports you have to mark all whilst trying not to get shot and there's nothing more annoying than the guy that constantly moans the entire way or the guy that expects every single aspect of the squad to be micro-managed, Squad Members need to exhibit some initiative and be responsible for their own actions whilst trying to complete the order before moaning about things and about the SL.
Don't be sheep, a common example is when we are capping a point I usually give the order to form a 360 perimeter and call out targets, When i give this command I usually expect a little inititive to be shown and for my guys to check the map, see where other squad members are and space them selves out then you always get someone saying "SL where do you want me?" Then another guy usually chirps up with "I'm X class where do you want me" It's not a big deal but to anyone who SL's regularly they will know what I mean about micro managing.
A SL is only as strong as his Squad, and whilst yes there are idiot ego tripping SL's out there, it's a frustrating job when your squad is incapable of basic initiative and cohesion and I myself confess to losing my temper a few times with people who don't listen. However if you are new to game LET IT BE KNOWN, Tell the SL you are new to the game right from the word go, so he can plan accordingly.
No matter the threat, whenever you grab a rifle in real life, you've already made the worst mistake of humanity.
As for the terminology being used, this game unites virtual soldiers working together from 50+ countries all over the world. You'd have to be one heck of a moron to call someone out for naming something differently.
This discussion is not about right or wrong terminology, it's about manners. Even when 9 outta 10 people agree on something it doesn't justify acting like an entitled bellend.
It demands some psyche requirements to master before achieving the main goals during the match...
Many things that I learned (in the hard way) in Project Reality was: shut up and listen. Follow orders and know your place...
If you see that your SL knows what he's doing, keep you alive and achieving objectives, don't question him. My first SL was a "hard talker" and was pretty rough, but he was an outstanding Squad Leader...
