Squad
Using Intel HD instead of Nvidia GPU
I'm a bit confused on how to go about this. My laptop has both an Intel HD 530 and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M on it. Every game I play uses the Nvidia, but Squad seems to only use my Intel instead(causing some serious FPS issues in the game).

I have already tried disabling the Intel through device manager, and it most likely defaults to Microsoft Basic Renderer because the FPS gets worse when doing so. I've already gone into the Nvidia Control Panel and set Squad specifically to use the GTX 965M and even set it so all games use this by default.

But to no avail, it still defaults to my Intel for no reason. Any help or solutions to my problem would be much appreciated!

are you 100% sure it defaults to your intel?
if you open one of the squad log files in %localappdata%\squad
it will show what video card it uses.
Within the logs, I have this inside, don't know if this will help you much.

It DOES list my GTX in the DisplayDevices but by using GPU-Z and also my HW Monitor, it shows my Intel being worked over than my GTX which apparently isn't being used at all because it shows 0% load on the chip. If I DO right-click on the .exe's and run with the GTX GPU, it brings up a black screen then just crashes.

Sorry for the really long post!
I also noticed that where it lists the memory in the 3rd line at the top, it shows the 530 as having 4GB of VRAM. lol It doesn't even have near that much. My GTX has 4GB VRAM, so Idk if the game is confusing itself?

I have almost the same setup.. and that is very odd as mine chooses just fine which adaptor to use. There are a few places you can force the adaptor choice. I will see what I can find for you

check this image out. You can actually tell squad to launch via a specific GPU.

Let me know if that works.

Try what iron said, it should work in theory.
The one thing that caught my eye is the first line of your log file:

[2016.09.21-20.40.30:227][ 0]LogD3D11RHI: D3D11 adapters:
[2016.09.21-20.40.30:251][ 0]LogD3D11RHI: 0. 'Intel(R) HD Graphics 530' (Feature Level 11_0)

It only lists your Intel HD as having DirectX 11,
have you tried fully uninstalling your GTX driver and then installing the latest?
(Make sure to fully uninstall first, don't try and install over top of)

I've tried what Iron had said lots of times(Thank you for your input by the way, Iron :) ) and to no avail. Whenever I did that, it would load past the splash screen then cause a fatal error crash.

As to your post, SuicidalChair, I had tried that and it was still choosing my Intel HD Graphics. Oddly enough, since yesterday and today, no matter what I did or even if I tried to merely run it, I've been just getting fatal error's after the splash screen.

I guess my laptop just hates me, haha. :P

you may have a corrupt file for your driver, I have seen probably 3 people in the last week with mobile GTX's that had corrupt drivers.

2 of them did as I said above and completely removed the nvidia driver then installed the newest, the 3rd opened a command prompt as an administrator and ran:

SFC /scannow

this command checks your windows files and attempts to repair corruption.
if it comes back clean let me know.

I did a complete cleanout of all old drivers and reinstalled the newest driver, and to my surprise with the new crash log(lol) the game is now using my Nvidia GTX 965M AND picking up the right amount of VRAM as well. :)

One thing I'm curious about on every single log I get, at the bottom right before the fatal error crash, it always says this:

I'm not very good with reading logs, but would the fatal error be caused by it not being able to initialize the movie player?
IrOnTaXi Sep 23, 2016 @ 11:11am
I am calling that progress at least!

I does sound like your system is having a tough go.. ill check my log to see what is usually after that fatal error. (970m in my case)
P∆LΣBLUΣSKIΣS Sep 23, 2016 @ 11:20am
No problem Iron! I'll keep trying out things on my end for the time-being. :)
P∆LΣBLUΣSKIΣS Sep 23, 2016 @ 11:46am
Alright, so SuicidalChair, there were some corrupted files found in SFC /scannow BUT they were all just for small accessories like the Snip Tool and Wordpad. lol
SuicidalChair  [developer] Sep 23, 2016 @ 12:33pm
that log file doesn't tell me as much as I would like to see,
do you have any .dmp files in the same directory? (they will be inside UEXXblahblahblah folders)
if you have a .dmp file and you could upload it to google drive or dropbox I can get someone to take a look at it and better tell me why your game is crashing.
P∆LΣBLUΣSKIΣS Sep 23, 2016 @ 12:39pm
I can upload it to Google Drive. Would you also need the CrashContext.runtime-xml file as well?

I'll post a link to the file shortly.

Here's the link. I provided both files just in case:
