life saver, seems to have worked.
If you are using a cable connection, you should be fine, however check for devices which are connected to your network thru wifi. Phones, Tablets and IoT Devices have normally a small impact on your connection, but downloading app updates or saving pictures into the cloud, can cause some serious trouble, as they go unnoticed of the playing user.
If you are using a Wifi Connection - peaking pings can also be caused by something interrupting your wifi - this can be a wifi in our area sending on the same channel (check for channels, android/ios apps are available for that) or even a microwave can cause issues.
You can cope by shielding your wifi antenna, really simple DIY
(I use this to get my firestick working, as the range is actually too far, but this helps)
