Squad
is this game worth getting
i hear a balance of its great or it sucks and as a new player thinking about getting the game without knowing any updates that may have ruined the experience like you vets is there anything worth knowing?
is the performance good,is there a steep learning curve
The only "tactical" games i play are Hell let loose with about 500 hours on it so coming from that to this would i have a better understanding?

Yes, Squad is worth getting, 2400+ hours and still playing. I enjoy it so much. Every match is different. The team play, the communication. And my favorite the armor play. I love so much.

There is talk about the ICO update "Infantry Combat Overhaul" which changed gun handling and a few other things, some didn't like it but it recently just got tuned a lot making guns more controllable. I see why people some were mad but it's not crazy bad. I like it now. Some will disagree but worth testing to see if its for you or not.

Performance can vary from map to map, I get 140+ on my 4070ti 5800x3d build 1440p. And about 70-80+ on my 2070S 5600x build 1440p. It's an old game with old code that is constantly being improved so things are slowly getting better. A UE5 engine update is coming soon. Which I can say is going well. But yes its not the most optimized game. No lie in that.

It will take a few hundred hours to learn things so you have some things to learn and will take time. I think of this game as if Arma and Battlefield had a baby.

No. Check after they update to UE5 engine if things change and if they manage to squish out the bugs and exploits, although no engine change will ever make the absolutely horrendous player base any better.
