Need advice on identifying enemy
I've no problem telling which uniform is which, but I'm having problem telling it when the enemy are far away with my weapon without any scope attachment. TBH, I can hardly tell even with the red dot.

Friendly next to me have the same set up as mine, yet they're shooting like a champ, not sure if they're actually killing anyone or just suppress fire...

Probably just over enjoying the gun sounds :P
But you will have to get used to it, also remember to check your map often enough so you know if there is enemies or friendlies in front.

Pull up your FOV all the way close as you can. It might be they have more resolution.

2k and even 4k it is so much easier to see things... I wish I had a 4k Monitor :(

Check the map, noted

Alright, how about aiming? how am I supposed to kill someone 2-300m out with an iron sight?
Onikenshin Dec 15, 2015 @ 9:09am
Carefully. 300m is kind of stretching it. 200 is a lot better. Don't take shots at that range unless they are stationary though.

FOV as close as you can get is good. Try to close the distance to at least 100meters before you engage targets.

Switch to single fire mode that helps with long distance targets. ;)

The FOV setting in the setting, right? I always thought that it'd be best to set FOV as high as possible for a FPS game, so that I could see wider.

No you want the FOV up as close as possible in shooters so you can more easily shoot people, unless of course the game is entirely CQB then as wide as you can get.

this may be trivial but you can zoom in with shift

So first advice, check your map. You will get better at it as time goes on, but always have your map handy (especially on maps like Fools Road where the factions are harder to tell and the foilage is dense). Check and see if there are friendlies in the area you are looking at.

Second piece of advice, long range engagements should be fought semi-automatic. (Hold shift to focus your view).

Tracers are also helpful, red means NATO rounds and green means Russia/Taliban. So if you are US and see green tracers firing from a position, they aren't friendlies.

Also, long range firefights aren't always going to be shooting to try to get a one shot kill. A lot of time you just need to get rounds down range to suppress the enemy/get fire superiority. Half the time I don't have an individual target, just know that their are enemies in the area I am engaging.

I wouldnt put your fov up it will just make it harder to spot enemies at far distance.

Don't forget coms...a good squad will be talking about where the enemy is so really pay attention using your compass at the bottom. Also when you weapons fire quickly check the direction then check your map....no friendly dots in that area? Open up with a can of "*#(*@(@!" Have fun!

Good communication and heavy use of the map. If the side you are on are working well as a team, your fire will be directed and you'll know where the friendlies are coming from and where the enemies are without needing to recognise thier uniform. (Sometimes a silouette is all you get).

If you don't mind I ask, what's your FOV setting? all the way to the lowest?
