This game seems to look and play very similar to a game called Insurgency.

So nothing New here with this Title.

I suggest Wait

ive just played 2 games of squad this morning and it feels like arma with all the best mods, and the movement of battlefiled, there is no need for me to have arma and mods taking up 70gb on my ssd,,,
and its funny watching people trying to jump a wall for 5 min

They aren't the same kind of games. I like both.

The Arma engine is actually officially used by the US Army for 'virtual training'. Ive never liked the Flashpoint/Arma engine though as it has always been a clunky, overly complicated game. I hope squad turns out to be more intuative, in relation to controls, and smoother in every way.

VBS and Arma share the same lineage engine wise but are quite far appart these days.

Anyway same as you, I just want to get away from Arma's clunkyness, lack of fidelity animation wise and content wise in the vanilla game, the garbage physics, obsolete netcode, absolute crap performances and overall glitchyness that really makes it hard to enjoy the multiplayer.

Squad is already a very straight forward, tightly tuned tactical shooter with an excellent netcode, good performances considering its looks and imo unparalleled visual fidelity.

I agree with you about the engine. I have played VBS1, 2 and 3 and have enjoyed them all and their attention to detail is second to none to this amateurs eyes. But the engine itself leaves a lot to be desired. House to house fighting is quite clunky as are many more intricate manouevres such as traversing a fence. Yes, it might be more accurate to have your soldier ♥♥♥♥ his leg over a frence but does that really need to be taught in a game desgned to teach combat tactics?

if you want a full game (still not optimized after 5 years) than get Arma
though I have never experienced such intense firefights in Arma than I do every day in Squad.

EUTW servers in Arma 3 are running vanilla and are quite good. Layouts work quite well. Community is ok as well. Though I find arma boring compared to Squad.

In my opinion, even at this stage, this game knocks Arma out of the park.

The maps in Arma/VBS can be truly huge and do a good job of portraying a larger battlefield, where transport truly becomes an issue. Hiking 20km across a map only to find the only signs of action are roads littered with dead bodies and burnt out vehicles might be immersive but not exactly fun.

The smaller maps in Squad lend themselves better to smaller engagements but it will be interesting to see what emergent gameplay we see when vehicles appear. I'm really not sure about planes and tanks though for some reason. Cars and armoured vehicles seem fine on paper but are the maps big enough for aerial engagements? And, assuming that tank combat will be asymetric and you will be facing RPGs and IED's and not enemy tanks, will it be relegated to a more defensive than offensive asset?

WTF are you guys mad? Arma 3 is many many many times the game squad is. Squad is little more than a team based tactical shooter.... arma is nigh on a full scale war simulator! Totally different games... but to say squad over arma... especially at this stage?!... well, thats some extreme blind fanboyism right there!

Arma has always been overrated in my opinion. Squad provides action and fun in every game, you have to find that in Arma or play the right mod that throws you right into the action. Not to mention Arma is clunky and unoptimized and the engine is old and needs replaced big time.

squad gives me the best feel when it comes to firefights, intensity and so on. So yeah for me Squad beats Arma even in alpha stage.

I know what you are saying EdF4ce, and tempering my comments with the fact that I don't curretnly own Squad nor have I played it, from the videos I have watched on YT this week I can see that although the scope of the game at this stage is certainly smaller, the close quarter action I have seen is far more "fluid" than what you get in Arma. This game seems to walk a tightrope between sim and arcade and seems to do a good job of it too.

I guess it comes down to what aspects of each game you are comparing. If its as a total battlefield simulator then it can't compare really. But infrantry combat and close to medium ranges it seems to hold its own as far as I can see.

I was sceptical about this but bought it anyway.

Result was arma3 got deletd from my libary.

Get a good squad that communicates and works together makes this a remarakable experiance.....like ma spelling.

Good Squad leader is the key.... So step up Soldier

Not at all. How many Arma 3 servers are running "full scale war simulations" with the public? Sure you can have great fun with Arma 3, I won't deny that. But to get the most out of it you've got to join an experienced gaming group.

Not so in SQUAD. All you have to do in SQUAD is be willing to listen and learn.

Granted Arma has more content at this time, but it should considering Arma entered this same stage of development over two years and nine months ago.

SQUAD is predicated on being able to jump into a server, any server, and have an amazing team based combat experience.

Half the servers in Arma 3?.. Well I hear Altis Life is fun...:steammocking:

Arma 3 would be more enjoyable if there were more proper War servers. They should streamline the squad/communications part of the game (not remove advanced features, just make it easier to do stuff like join and find your squad, figure out your role, etc). Working with a squad in a public server with a bunch of strangers is too much of a hassle.
I think that is one of the reasons TvT gamemodes aren't that popular. Too much time spent on setup and not enough engagements.

Even in the KOTH servers which are the only popular TvT ones everyone pretty much plays solo.
