Let me make it short... Will it be a unfair fight in CQB if i use semi auto.... Me (Semi) Vs him (Full Auto)
It is a must to engage the enemy in full auto. It is very risky move to take semi-auto in close quarter combat.
When one person fires in full while one fires semi "at each other", the chances are the person who fires the most bullet per second lives. Though one bullet to the head will definitely take an enemy down, again that move is very risky and not recommended. Think of it like a soldier's perspective, don't take unnecessary risk that will lead to a squad's demise.
I fully suggest to go full auto at close range when facing contacts. Semi and full auto is recommended in long range combat depending how hot the firefight is.
Thank I though I was the only one... Could I add you and we play sometime (The 15th)
Using Single fire in CQB wouldnt be recommended, theres a reason military\rifle tech moved forward to full auto's, using single shot for everything is very "gamey" imo.
Even when distances open up, auto shouldnt be discarded automatically, it depends on situation In a realistic shooter like this , its as important to get "lead down range" as it is picking away like a marksman, espcilly if you are the fire element (suppression), leave marksmen shooting to the "marksmen",
I personally get a little anoyed when operating as a squad at times,as you could have 1 guy suppressing while 8 other guys want to be "snipers"\marksmen, like all the ego shooters want you to be.
Theres nothing greater in game, then having a full squad lined on ridge, unloading in enemys genral direction, its all about unleashing hate, get there heads down, then maneuver your assault element to finish em up close with FULL AUTO, HURRAH
"FIRE YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GUN SON!!" instead of trying to "get kills" like a noob.
IRL life with a little M4 "pea shooter" (5.56) id want\need damn near a full mag to ensure the bad guys go down in CQB.
We in the military rarely used full auto/burst in CQB wasting all your rounds on non controlled shots means that you leave yourself vunerable when facing multiple enemies up close. There is little reason to go full auto when proper single fire gets the job done more efficiently. The Military moved to burst not full auto for a good reason its more controllable and even then they recommend the use of single fire.
Intresting article, about SWAT application however alot of downsides wouldnt apply to army..

But saying all that, in "game", its very easy to shoot single,on full auto anyway, so like the weighted trigger option anyway, also one of the major drawbacks of full auto is ammo, which isnt really a major concern (yet) in game.
Also the burst "option" is very controversial with some saying its just outright not used in any circumstances and call for its removal, infact pretty sure the British army doesnt even have burst select.
If you're the automatic rifleman with the SAW or other MG type weapon and the enemy comes rushing the immediate vicinity of your squad...you better be laying down covering fire in bursts or full auto, instead of trying to plink the enemy in the head in semi-auto. lol
A Mg don't have semi sadly
Man, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Haven't seen a military that ever encourage full auto in CQB.
Depending on weapon and trigger used, a rifle/SMG in full auto can then be used in "burst" hence why the "burst" setting on auto guns never took off, more times than not you need more than one shot on target, espcially in modern combat, the amount of personal armour avaible has made "full auto" more relevant than ever, you also cant train every soldier as a SF operator that has the trigger speed of clint eastwood, standard soldiers in CQB are not SWAT operators.
