Temporary Iron Sight Zoom, Gotta Go
Hey guys, the temporary zoom in on iron sights is crappy fps rubbish in an otherwise fantastic game, either make it a toggleable permanant zoom to give us a little help to aim, or disable it completely, having it there for about 5 seconds makes no sense from realism or gameplay pov.

Is this the same as Insurgency, where you can hold a key down and you can zoom a little for a small amount of time? I think the idea behind it is that your character is holding his breath and focusing for a few seconds, I think it's good in Insurgency.

Yes RipGroove, it's much the same as it is in Insurgency. The character holds their breath to focus for a few seconds, to improve accuracy when firing.

No it's not perfect, how does holding our breath make our eyes zoom in. A zoom should be present if it is to overcome the problem of FOV on computer screens vs how far we can see in real life, holding your breath as a mechanic should steady your rifle. Holding your breath to zoom in is nonsensical

It's to simulate 'focus'. It's like when you are driving a car, technically from where you are sat you can see the whole dashboard (we almost have a 180° field of view) BUT all you actually see is what's going on through the windscreen because that's what your brain FOCUSES on, your eyes do not actually zoom in on the windscreen but that's all you see. How else are they supposed to simulate that in a game. The hold breath focus zoom is spot on IMO.

If every game has the exact same FOV as your eyes in real life then every game would look fish eye and be almost unplayable, I'm sure we have like a 170° FOV or something. The devs have done what they can to simulate the way a human eye and brain focus on a long distance target. When you focus on something in real life your brain kind of artificially zooms in on it which can only be simulated on a screen by actually zooming the screen.

And im just going to say this, aiming without any type of zoom was hard as ♥♥♥♥. At any distance with iron sights, you were lucky if you would hit them. You cannot see a dude 50m away it seemed like. I like the zoom, so I can actually see something.

This game ISN'T a military sim.

I have played with this in RO, and I hope it works the same, because im re downloading it again to see the progress.

RO doesn't work like that it's always on when you iron sight, which is what is preferable to one you have to hold, which is call of duty level
I like the zoom
