This guide is pretty helpful in chosing the style best suited to you. As far as brand I've had a cheap ($15) Perixx MX-1000 for a few years and aside from the paint rubbing, it is a great value. Perixx is a German company, to some that may add credibility as far as design and engineering.

Zelotes is germany too I think. And was cheap, but pretty bad.
They are a bit expensive here in japan... I am thinking about get the logicool g300s:

These ones are cheap in Japan and I really like the bottons on the top, I think it would be good for my grip that is fingertip grip... what do you think? is logicool any good?
Good mousepad is always a good deal. Go for "pro gaming" stuff the hard surface ones from somewhat known brands. Normally the specs for major mouse companies are done with combination of their own mousepad.
