Squad with xbox one controller
Hi,

i want to play this game with a xbox one elite controller. Squad supports the controller but you cannot adjust the mapping and sensitivity.

I tried to edit the config file in Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Squad\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input and add lines like

+AxisConfig=(AxisKeyName="Gamepad_LeftX",AxisProperties=(DeadZone=0.250000,Sensitivity=1.500000,Exponent=1.000000,bInvert=False))

to adjust the sensitivity, but Squad ignores it. Am I using the correct config file and correct syntax ?

Can you help me please.

Been using xb1 controller since yesterday. It works well. Squad isn't a twitch shooter. No issues here.

False. No idea why you guys say this. I absolutely OWNED guys in the division. The kb /mouse superiority is a myth.
dude division is a third person shooter. there is a difference between 3rd person and 1st when it comes to mouse/key and controller.

Myth. Been playing a few days now with xb1 controller. No issue. I almost always have more kills then deaths.

Also this game isn't a twitch shooter. It's slow and strategic and most of my victims don't even know I have them in my sights. My xb1 controller is great.

Squad is actually a decent FPS for using a controller on, like Ford says most of the time the enemy don't even know you have them in your sights and it is not a twitch shooter like Counter Strike for example. On CS, a mouse would destroy a controller any day of the week, but on a game like Squad I don't think it gives you much of a disadvantage at all.

Whatever works best for you I say.

I CAN USE A MOUSE AND KEYBOARD BUT USE PS4 CONTROLLER. I SH*T YOU NOT BUT I AM WIPING THE FLOOR WITH MOUSE KEYBOARD PLAYERS. BUT IM VERY GOOD WITH DS4. SAME WITH ARMA USING STEAM CONTROLLER ALWAYS WASTED PLENTY OF MOUSES. IF YOU GET USE TO IT THERE IS LITTLE DIFFERENCE JUST TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO. USING MOUSE AND KEYBOARD IS FOR NERDS REALLY SITTING AT THERE DESKTOPS. ITS A SAD WAY TO PLAY. AND LESS ENJOYABLE. WERE IN THE YEAR 2018 WE ALL NEED TO START PLAYING WITH CONTROLLERS THAT HAVE MORE BUTTONS AND CONFIGS.

Try launching squad inSteam Big Picture mode, I think you can then customise each button on the controller to be whatever you like. It works this meathod using the Steam Controller, but I did find it hella hard to play because you have to be so accurate and youre against keyboard and mouse a lot.

These solutions didn't work for me but this will if using Xpadder. With Xpadder already open with your profile for Squad open, start Steam in Big Picture Mode. Go to your library and select Squad. Select "Manage Game" then select "Controller Options". Select "Forced On". Start Squad still in Big Picture Mode. Start your game whether at the shooting range or multiplayer. Once in game, hold alt and hit tab to bring you back to steam. Go back to controller options and select "Forced Off". Hold alt and hit tab again to go back to Squad. Your Xpadder profile will now be the default controller profile.

I used a trackball mouse for the longest time. Different things work for different people with different playstyles. In Squad, I could never use a controller though. Need them fast and accurate reflexes. If you spend most of your time playing slowly and shooting at range, then a controller should be fine.
