Squad

Why not play Project Reality for free instead of this?
the Project Reality, nowadays a free standalone game which used to be a BF2 mod, is completely free, has heavy teamplay emphasis, uses Mumble for comms (directional close proximity chat) and lastly, is very realistic.
I honestly don't know why you would pay such a high price for something that can be gotten free.

Edit 7. Feb 2018:

Well, the game's on 50% offer, but after viewing the gameplay vids in youtube I have to say the problems I had with PR are still very much there with the Squad. The problem for me is that it's TOO realistic. For me it's a problem, because it kind of makes the game boring. I understand, that the same realism is a positive thing for many people whom enjoy the things it grings in.

When I smacked PR for years, it reached a point where I tought the realism and on the other hands, the joy of gaming were in perfect balance. When the PR had reached it's current level of realism and the The Squad is more or less at right now, you'd end up hiking through the bushes for 10-20 minutes, lay on your belly under a blueberry bush.. and suddenly get sniped.

Or you might run into an enemy patrol and get snuffed. That was it. Then after some time you'd spawn kilometers away from where you were if you were unlucky to not have any FOBs etc nearby and then it was basically to go start, as we say. Start the hike again.. shoot at some enemies on a far away hillside.. maybe get killed again.. wheee.

I know these aspects will probably not change in the Squad, but I still decided to write down what was wrong with PR and probably with Squad too, in my opinion. Who knows these insights will have some value one day.. or not :D.

It's because squad is it's sequel in a way. Not yet, but it's a working process. Eventually as time goes by this will be basically PR2 inna way. Out with the old and in with the new I guess. Even though I payed basically $80 fr this game, but yet have to wait for optimization. Smh
>Assuming Squad owners ditched PR..

Why not both? You're obviously a troll, or simply a mad 12 year old who can't afford the game and is here trying to ruin it for those who own the game.

GL with that.
Because I prefer this

i cant stand the bf2 engine anymore

I play both. PR is a complete mod. Squad will have all that stuff eventually.

I like both also.
All good points aside... 2006 graphics vs nowaday graphics...

Really now? FYI I'm 41 year old and well.. what comes to the financial setback of the game.. let's say I could afford it with ease, but thank you for your constructive reply anyways, Mr. 13 year old.

I was just wondering why people would pay a relatively high price for some added eye candy and tought maybe they're not aware of the PR, which is free. I have no reason to troll here.

I tried PR. It was similar, but it felt REALLY clunky. But Squad has a polish that PR can't touch.

Lmao, okay. The reason is obvious and it's the same one people buy CoD or any game they love, even though there's very little to no change in gameplay/graphics-wise. But that, of course, isn't the same case with PR and Squad. Squad is being developed by former PR devs who aren't money hungry and care for their fans.

Squad was funded during the Kickstarter by PR vets mostly. I personally supported it as both a thank you for all they've given us in PR and because I believe they can and will deliver a good, upgraded, and beautiful game as it's predecessor.

Your question has been asked and answered multiple times, that's why I assumed you were a troll/yet another youngster who's mad about the pricing, which is also common in the forum.

Sorry if I sounded rude, but I did say "or" lol. :soldieryeah:

If they can make PR from BF2 then it can only be better when they work off UE4 in my opinion. A game developed from Unreal Engine doesn't have nearly the same limitations as a mod for BF2 and now they're opening up modding to early access testing so they will have time to improve the modding implementation.

I don't think it costs that much, even at full price, when you compare it to other modern shooters which also add DLC/microtransactions on top of the game itself or require you to spend hours grinding to unlock items/roles/weapons/etc. You could wait for another sale or free weekend when the game is discounted around 50% though, but it could be a while since there was just a free weekend.

Because this engine is far less buggy than the BF2 one, and it is more versitile for modders

Becasue the PR scene has died down, servers are not as full as once were and the thing is the game has got flaws, trans suffers cause you can't move whole squads and other problems.

I left Pr because i wanted better graphics, sound and a fresh feel, and i got all 3 of those by switching to squad.
osheamat Nov 19, 2017 @ 6:30pm
PR is realistic until it hits the limitations of the engine
