There's a recent awarded thread on 'General Discussions' you can see. You can't see 'Game Owner Discussions' for a reason.
You can always buy the game and check out Game Owner Discussions, play the game for less than 2 hrs and make your own mind up. Steam forums are inhabited by the sales people.
In my opinion - It's akin to your middle sentence but who am I?
So, not as fancy and immersive as hell let loose, but much more polished in terms of gameplay mechanics and ui.
Ahhh this is comfort.
Squad has FOG/Haze that is also present due to 'performance reasons' - add that to it uses scopes heavily.
Teamwork and tactics have become somewhat of a myth in Squad.
Just don't go looking for your ricochet with small arms beyond 1000m.
To the OP - Only you decide. Beware people with vested interests, be it personal or financial.

There's really nothing else tho.
If you want a game where are you whinged at by a post-pubescent 20 year old male in that comic book guy voice because they are unhappy about some ridiculous ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this is the game for you.
No it is not.
HLL runs like absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on my pc and squad runs fairly well. Doesn't make sense why, it should be the other way around from what I understand other people have been saying.
HLL is about action battlefield immersion. Everything about the design is to feed players into a bottleneck with the skin of wwii. The vehicles are even more or less limited to following a path set forth by the map design.
Squad is about tactical battlefield immersion (not saying this always works out...). The maps, with exception of 1 are very open in comparison. This makes it so the players have more control over where they engage from and in what method. Majority of the tactical part comes from teamwork/communication, which is the core aspect of squad that makes it unique. Everyone relies on everyone else to complete their part of a task.
Then of course there are the obvious differences of optics, vehicles, FOB building, etc etc etc.
If you are looking for another shooter game on a bigger scale, squad isn't for you.
If you are looking for a meeting of 9 strangers who fumble themselves together to sit around doing nothing, but then also sometimes going out to accomplish something that 1 of the 9 thinks is important (but may not actually be) while in the setting of a modern battlefield experience, then squad might be for you.
You might find Squad is a little bit dry at first. Not every match will have a ton of action (or you won't personally get to see it) and a lot of the match is driven by the players due to importance of FOB creation. Some matches, you will have a team that is really on top of creating fobs. Other games, you will not, and may spend long amounts of time walking to objectives, or getting overrun and dying while trying to get out of a spawn point. As you start to understand the flow of matches, you can start participating more and influencing the match, and it will be more engaging instead of running around and dying without knowing wtf is going on.
I can't stress how much it is player driven, sometimes just being hunkered down with a good or entertaining SL and squadmates can make for a good match even if your team ends up losing horribly.
But again, it's all up to you my guy :)
Apart from that: Gunplay is total arcade, respawn is 10 seconds, medics could as well not exist since there are no tickets, almost no communication and coordination (outside of organised clans i suppose), pace is too fast for it anyways.
Tank/vehicle gameplay is nice i guess, HLL is not bad, especially when you look for a game you want to play mostly solo/alongside others, but without much need for actual coordination. i think all in all Squad is much, much better.
