Turn shadow setting to low is like turning on cheat codes.
I'm not talking a guy next to me, I'm talking about the guy that is hitting me with pinpoint accuracy from 200/300m away when I'm behind bushes. Clearly has everything turned down low and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with his .ini to be able to see that. My eyes are fine.
You don't think 400hrs is enough to understand how to play well? I've been playing since this launched on steam, its happened to me enough times to know that my play style isn't the problem. I can't really give you a specific example but there are times I feel like there is no way someone should be able to see me if I put myself into their perspective with my settings unless they have a 6x optic like you said. I guess I'll just avoid all foliage until they rework that because realistically you shouldn't be able to notice tiny little pixel movements from 400m and open fire on a bush.
Setting shadows to low = no shadows....which means the colors pop from one another because there is no shading to blend them. Which means camo is now useless, because it has a color pallette that now is "highlighted" against the surrounding environment.

It gets even worse for those with shadows on for maps that have dynamic environment lighting. Since turning shadows to low, turns off all of the lighting effects against the environment.
Of course you would say that, being the guy who play with low shadows. Whose opinion am I taking then? Yours, or that of dozens of other people in dozens of other threads? Post Scriptum has the same issue. Luckily for this game, Squad is more open and people aren't just covering a narrow corridor/plot of land. I've honestly not felt like it's that big of a deal. But don't lie, lower settings give better visibility. Period.
If enough people complain there must be some sort of truth there, I'm not sure why you are defending against the well known fact that in nearly all fps's turning down your graphics gives you an advantage to spot players hiding behind soft cover. Why would Squad be an exception?
Also you can see silhouettes from 400m away? Man maybe my eyes are bad, or I just don't have bionic vision :/
The "truth" is coming from people whose eyes aren't accustomed to actually LOOKING for an enemy.
What a stupid thing to say. It's an fps. Looking for an enemy is the aim of the game
Apparently my eyes are just bad? Nah that ain't it
