Squad
Possible Abuse: Servers and just general message
I just feel the need to voice some conern over the fact of possible admin abuse in servers and such. Just a forewarning this is partial rant and partial possible warning to newer players. If you're to argue points I do ask it is respectful, but if its something such as "git gud" or "quit being a nub" sort of thing I won't respond to such comments. This is just one player voicing his concerns, about possible problems that may arise in the future for "player owned" servers.

If you're like me as a squad lead, you do realize that yes some players are better at tactics and coordination on some servers that are clan based. However if you are just trying to enjoy the game, you also may question why some servers seem to be one sided constantly.

Well I'm here to say that yes if you're a newer player it is recommended you join the Noob Focused servers so that you can learn each role effectively. This game is brutal without proper coordination and in general some players exploit that fact that newer players are poorer at the game, and will effectively "train" on them.

However, the question does arise, "Why is it that some games the enemy always seems to know when and where I am hiding?" Or other questions for squad leads, "How do they know where my FOB is?" This can be answered by at least three possible if not more scenarios. These will be ranked from the worst scenario to the best scenario.

#1: Server admins, especially that use the free look camera have the direct ability to find on the map every possible enemy position and hab, and can relay to their clan mates or buddies where enemy positions are. Note* I have been guilty of this, it does make the game more enjoyable for the winning team, but yes it is the worst possible scenario.
Basically server admins will abuse this avenue and effectively use their admin cam as a sort of UAV to allow their team to win.

#2 Traitors, Arguably one of the worst to prove your complete assery to another team, basically relaying information to the other team either through a seperate teamspeak or discord, but yes complete assery. In a positive light though, some events may have a traitor in a scenario where they are only able to give away their squad's position, but that is an event seperate from the game.

#3 They are just better coordinated, sometimes you just have to accept facts, the other team can just be better coordinated, part of a clan, Veteran players and the only way to counter this, is either learn from their tactics, leave the server to go to one better suited to your playing style, or stick it out and quit whining. Squad is not always a game about capturing every point on the map, yes that is the objective, but you're ultimate objective is to ticket bleed.

Again this is a partial rant, and I do respect each and every server owner that they can do whatever the hell they want with it, but to me if you abuse your power as an admin, and become butthurt from every lost, death or grenade, this simply isn't the game you should be renting servers for.

To all the new players though, I do recommend that you go to servers that support a learning noob environment, and if you're a veteran squad player or lead, patience if you're dealing with noobs, remember we were all once noobs too, even if you're coming from Project Reality.

This is a tactical game, teamwork is essential, this is your fellow player Crisis Avenger signing off and see you on the battlefield!

Fobs and habs tend to be placed in areas that are common and we'll known. so don't be surprised they are found easily, typically my squad will find and take down 2 or 3 a game, we have people scouting for them, and assume that if 1 person can see the hab, that your position is given away.

fob/hab isn't a huge concern here...I didn't know admins can free cam like that. It's as good as wall hacks. they should only have admin powers on spectator mode and should not be able to join mid game.

I agree with TheSneakret about fob and hub.
Also yea admins have admin cam but, if we can not trust certain admins to not use it for other purpose than admining, then better not go play on that server at all i would say.
Now i also agree that something like having powers only in some spectator mode would be a very good thing.

I do agree with this statement, it goes along with the whole intuition, most squad leads always put HABS in very predicatable places and about 75% of the time they hardly defend it.

To add, a lot of us have been playing since before HABs were a part of the game, and learned to find just radios, hidden in bushes with no structures around, hundreds of meters from objectives, so looking for about 9 foot tall, wide structures isn't at all difficult

Find a server with admins you can trust. When admins go into spectator mode, there's a special icon that appears on the map that other spectating admins can see. If you have ethical admins and they see someone popping in and out when they shouldn't be, then ideally that admin is talked to and potentially stripped of admin rights.

There are reasons to do it mid-game. Sometimes you're only admin on and you have a complaint that has to be investigated(solution is to recuse oneself of SLing if possible and not relay/act on any information not seen from FP perspective).

I've also done it to check scores to see if mercy rules(before OWI added increased mercy bleed) needed to be used. If admin looks at ground and opens scoreboard, no pertinent information other than tickets is relayed. Yet again, up to admin to not relay any information(example, seeing tickets are near same and telling the team that).

Also, fobs/habs are easy to find most of the time. Not only do they stand out(experienced players are very capable of noticing the blocky shape where there shouldn't be one) but the lemmings like to spawn and either shoot from it or walk in a straight line to closest objective. Watching the duckling run to radio tower all in a line can tell a not very astute person the exact direction to look. Solutions to that are good SL's with squads who listen. Utilize cover, hit from different angles, and use rallies and multiple fobs to attack a point from more than one direction.
Again all very good discussion considering that Squad is in Alpha, and I am sure that the developers never intended for admins to exploit such a loop in their servers.

On the part of HABs, agreed it is a lot easier to spot now, and prior to this created I had taken this into account. This post is as much as a learning point as well as a warning. To veteran squad players/leaders a lot of times we do not resort to blaming other squad leads especially if the game was close or had poor planning.

Again however back to the possible abuse of admins, understandable it is still completely up to the owner of the server how to manage their admins and or rules. With things considering though, it would be nice to see more security along with abusive admins, but then again this is just a warning for newer players. Find servers where you can trust the admins but also enjoy and learn the game.

Perhaps later on they will implement a UAV for those commanders that can direct enemy squad locations from an actual UAV instead of a free cam for admins that can abuse their power.

With things considering, I do find it difficult to play on servers with admins/clans that choose to train on both veteran and newer squad players by this advantage that newer players do not know about.

Simple solution would be this. Just delay the free cam by a minute. So if admin goes into free cam he can se only what happened a minute ago. Or make Cammera icon that shows where is somebody free caming thus making it transparent.
Strong accusation that admins will use the admin cam to cheat. Any evidence to support it? In my 640 hrs of Squad I experienced this...0 times.
Yea they are accusations but it wouldnt hurt having camera on the map so we can check at all times where is it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just have to go through the actual squad forums, because the link takes me to a page that says it is not found.
