graphics settings
hi,
my computer is not the best so i have set all on low except view distance which is epic ofcourse

i still cant see enemies far away even if my mates can see them

i have tried a little bit and even if i put some settings on medium or high it doesnt seem to do any change for me

so, what settings should i turn high to see enemies better?
and what settings are just for "nice looking terrain" or whatever?

turn all graphic setting sto low, or off. Up the resolution scale as much as your system can handle.

What screen resolution and screen size are your playing on?

How to play:steambored:

I always use community tournament settings which are min:

shadows medium or higher

view distance high or higher

Everything else whatever you want.

Personally I do the above and have everything else off or lowest settings and it works great. I play in 4K so keep resolution scale to 100%.

View distance does not how far you can view players. It controls LOD and texture streaming AFAIK. If you put it on low, you will notice that nothing is at its best texture, not even your own gloves.

Texture streaming is basically, after a certain distance, a high res texture gets replaced with a low res texture since you won't see it closely anyway. This keeps the load on your graphics card's VRAM to a minimum. LOD is the same but with vertices, so it replaces one model with a lower polygon model at a certain distance. The higher the settings, the further away before it does this, which makes it look better, but is more taxing. IDK if LOD is done in Squad now that I think about it..

so i can put all on low and that doesnt change how far i can see?

but how can my mates see enemies that i dont see :-/

If you can't see enemy movement it just sounds like operator error unfortunately. Some groups, especially the woodland militiants blend in to their environment really well so it becomes really difficult to spot them sometimes.

The game's draw distance is the same no matter what specs or settings you play on. Lower LODs just give long-distant models less polygons but they retain their relative shape so it doesn't matter if you play at high or low draw distance; player models will always show up

I think the biggest factor is screen resolution tbh. Kind a hardware limitation at this point in time.

How are you having issues? I use an i3 and r9 380 and play on 40-60 fps on medium to high with supersampling set to 1.25x.

Resolution (native), gamma, aspect ratio and sharpening, I have found to be the low impact settings that affect whether or not you are able to spot a well concealed ambush in the bush.
Like Arma, and a very small few other more Foxy, less Squirrelly shooters; You are free to really enjoy the view. Squad is beautiful just to look at.
Have you ever led your Logi run over an iED, at fault instead of watching the road you were captivated by the detail in structure and sheer number of stitches on the brilliant flag patch of your fellow squadie stuck riding b*^!<h?
It's possible. And it doesn't take a mQuadro and an RGB display.
Just find a sweet spot in your graphics settings, sit down and smell the roses once in a while. Slow down. You may just find easy does it:
The entire server chasing 60fps, 5 grids ahead of themselves in 4 Victors flying out of main 3 seconds after the whistle only to back-capture 2 grids, lose the one they rushed to:
Your sqaud advanced down the stream to enjoy the sunset reflecting off the running ripples of hydro and flank a scenic grid unopposed by a server full of college kids on Adderall that all have their knives out counter strike style running to lose the game you win in the first 7 minutes. And Arma has butterflies. Butterflies are chill.

They should be calling them out. Squad forces teamwork. I.E: Not everyone has optics.

The more beautiful it looks... the harder it is to see the enemy. You know it's pretty hard to spot a kit-up paratrooper who's prone in concealment 50 meters out in real life as well. Honestly, nobody really knows where anybody is until the bullets start flying.

Thats what Im wondering. A 980 and an i5 should be able to handle more than minimum settings. Maybe something is up with his system?
