Only way you might get yelled at is if you take an important squad role and then try to lone wolf it
That was exactly what I was saying)
Play the game as a rifleman for at least a few hours, take in everything, pay attention, ask questions to understand how the gameplay mechanics work and pick up some helpful tips.
After you feel familiar with how the gameplay mechanics work, try out support roles, preferably autorifleman, medic, grenadier, and AT in that order.
Then if you're feeling up for it, and you have at least 20 hours in game, watch a guide, read a guide, preferably wait for a free weekend or sale, and then take on the SL role.
This is what I did, and I picked up on everything pretty well.
Oh, and also, technicals can be blown up by small arms fire (M4s n' stuff) depsite what some people say, they just require you dump a few mags into them.
Is there any way I can express my absolute approval of your point except verbal? Because I'd totally do that.
I would say Medic, because you will learn much faster how and where ppl die in the game. Medic has also the advantage of seeing on the map everyone who is downed or wounded with an extra symbol, which translates in improved situational awareness.
Rifleman has the big advantage of ammo bag and can potentially spam 12 grenades in a row. No to mention he can provide ammo for AT's and SL for Rally point which can be a gamechanger in the right moment.
Many new player gravitate to the marksman kit, which is actually a handicap in most situations and only very situational useful, on most maps its not helpful at all because the engagement distances are usually short enough a scoped rifleman can do the same job and has ammo and grenades as well.
