Request System Bugged?

I'm asking those who are playing the [patchpreview] / beta version of the game. Is the Academy "Request System" diplomacy option bugged? I can't seem to click on the system I want to acquire from them even when it already says "Right-click to select ...." on the middle of my screen.

Can you elaborate on what's happening?

You have to have a fleet on the system you request first. It can even be only one ship.

I was confused at first too but figured it out soon after

Ah, many thanks. I did not have any ships on top of their system. I thought it was more of a handover like when you trade star systems as Lumeris (instantaneous without other prerequisites).

From my playing, I just needed vision of the system. Even allied vision worked fine. I was the Vaulters and used an allies vision from the other side of the galaxy and was able to acquire the system without needing a fleet on it. The feature confused me at first as well, but that seems to work for me.

Just for clarification, did you or your ally have the requested system in either of your empire's influence sphere?
