which DLC should I buy?

since this game have big discount I think I'll try it but I see some dlc have bad review so I wonder if I should only buy dlc with positive review.

The Vaulters is definitely a safe option. The rest I'll rank them like this:
Supremacy > Awakening > Penumbra

I dont understand why everyone is hating Penumbra. I understand that Shemenchor and Riftborn are overpowert but i think Awakening is much more things to hate. The Spear of Isyander is th most powerfull easymode on Earlygame. And the Nakalim are Powerful but hard to learn.

Just letting you know, there are patches incoming that will likely make Awakening and Penumbra better.

The only problem people have with Penunmbra is having to deal with espionage.
If you don't mind that then there's no reason to hate it.

I'd definitely recommend Penumbra before Awakening. LOL I'd almost have to recommend them in the order they came out- Vaulters -> Supremacy -> Penumbra -> Awakening.

The final DLC- Dark Matters- is the only one I wouldn't recommend. It introduced exciting new bugs, some of which you can still encounter. As far as Awakening goes, you can turn off the Academy questline. It's all good- I enjoy the Umbral Choir as a played race more than I like fighting them, but...

get all of them except Awakening, Dark Matter and the other one that adds a pug hero. Awakening is mediocre and only necessary if you're trying to hunt achievements, and the latter two I mentioned introduce gamebreaking bugs.

You're already on easymode if you have a shot at Spear of Isyander earlygame. On higher difficulties you'll never be able to compete with the AI's resource bonus so it's just a free 12k fleet for your neighbor to use to screw you over.

They really should've made it so it scales with the unlocked tech of empires, it should be at most a 1k or 2k fleet early game and get progressively more powerful as players unlock military modules and ships. Even just having a way to remove the Spear of Isyander role entirely would be welcome to preserve game balance

Also worth a shot, to make use of ESG Mod 1.5, what fixes most of the issues (bugs, balancing, new game options, etc.) around vanilla ES2 and its DLCs. At least until the last ES2 patch gets released. Not sure about ESG Mod 1.6 so far, as long as it's playavle but not finished, yet.

the dark matter dlc does add one really annoying bug but there is a mod that fixes it called Death without a corpse quest fix (DarkMatter DLC)
