This is an irreplacement ship.
The ship is so large that it takes 3 command in the fleet while everything else is still at size 1. It is nice as an early defense boost.
There are very few support modules in the game, and little to no upgrades for them, many more will be coming. This is about where we were in Endless Legend when it first came out in EA, and if you look at the accesories in that game now I think you can get an idea of what to expect in ES2 eventually.
3 command makes it a medium class. As for it beeing ireplaceable ... eh I doubt it. If it's era 2 you should be able to build mediums allready and support fleets of up to 9-10 CPs, and if it's still era 1 spamming 4 small ships designed for medium to short range combat will kick the crap out of any 1 medium+1 small combo. My advice is for you to sell it, it's not worth using a 3CP ship while you are still in era 1 (early game basicaly). Especialy if it's a quest given ship, in my experience the AI is a complete idiot when designing them and basicaly just spams rockets for all weapon nodes. Which is retarded because then the ship ends up spending 2/3rds of the fight not firing AND since you can't support larger fleets you will only have 1 group of ships per fight so you can't have a close combat intercept group keeping the enemy from getting close to your artilery ship.
As for your original question: I have yet to find a fleet wide repair module. Only 10% sef-repair. Maybe era 3 (I haven't explored all the techs it can give as my Vodyani blitz usualy ends the map before I get there ... arks are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing ships, whish we could make different versions of them).
Nah, my economy is fine, I can spam buy improvements on new colonies levels of fine. And overall its cheaper to build new ships that repair old ones, especialy since the XP system is curently doing nothing for me in terms of making old ships worth keeping around. As for support modules yeah I know, I fully expect things to get bigger and better by the end.
For a 4v4 battle early on, you will likely have damaged all your ships even if you won the battle. So even if you have time, you do not necessarily have money. So the only compromise is if you have money, not time. Then it's instantly upgraded.
So you'll either have to spend the large sum of cash, or just keep the fleet damaged until it's destroyed.
Repairing ships is like 500 a pop even in the early game. They don't slowly repair when docked. It's silly. Military is incredibly gimped in this game.
