Hero ships

I'm not really fond of this feature. The hero ships don't fit in with the rest of your fleet. It looks really silly when you play as the cravers for example, the red "civilian" looking hero ships your craver boss runs around in stands out like a sore thumb.

The hero is also stuck on a small ship instead of being able to command your cruiser or carrier once you finally build one, that would be much more fitting as a flagship.

It also just plain doesn't make sense that heroes can pull magical spaceships out of their butts instead of having to build them like anyother.

I agree, completely. As I understand them, they command the fleet. The should indeed be in a large cruiser or carrier, not something that makes me think of 1950's cars. :-P

agree. i would like a feature where you can change the ship model, perhaps to something that suits your empire. Thats quite a bit of additional modelling though... I have no problem with them being in a small ship though. just the style and colour are downright wierd

Heroes come from Academy, and Academy supply all the ships for the heroes. Even though they have "admiral" skill line, they act more like ace pilots, who lead their fleet into combat, that's why they have dedicated small ships.

I agree that they should have been a more neutral color to suite with all races. but there are several mods that re-color your hero ships like

There was a mod for medium command ships, but it hasn't been updated for latest patch and is unfortunately abandoned.
