You get them for all g2g games you own etc, and can spend them on community surveys on their website.
They often hold votes to determine the exact nature of a dlc or free update, like there's a couple factions and heroes for the older games, that are community created.

If you go create an account on Amplitude's site and link your Steam account, you will get a certain amount of points based on what games/DLC you own and what achievements you have. Those points can be used in polls for all of Amplitude's games to vote on various features and decisions. The more points, the more your vote is worth.
