Pax Imperia...do it
Loved first Endless Space but it still was lacking. Just about every 4X title I've tried is lacking. Then I load up Pax Imperia Eminent Domain, and again...spend hours even after decades later.

I see ES2 is going to have more customization in ships. That is beautiful. The true glory of Pax was the ability to do just this. To be able to take transport hulls or cruiser hulls and outfit them with fighter bays, turn them into escort carriers. It was a game changer in early game as the AI wouldn't bring shipborne fighters to play until it unlocked Carriers.

MOO didn't do this. People swore that MOO2 was the thing of legends but it lacked completely in so many ways.

If I can do this in ES2, you got yourself a preorder.

Another thing, make espionage interesting. Pax did it beautifully as well. Allowed you to not only subvert governments but incite rebellions, kill enemy govenors, and just about every dirty thing possible. The value of this feature was huge during a wartime situation. It allowed you to actually stand a fighting chance against more warlike races which would spend all their budgets on fleets. The first Endless Space was too tame and didn't exploit this.

Counter espionage was also big. If you invested properly into it in Pax you could hold off more espionage prone races till your fleets finished wiping them out.

Then lastly, please get the netcode right. Having to reload the game and check for desync all the time with ES just killed the replay value.

Have you checked out Distant Worlds Universe here on Steam? It's a rather indepth space sim.

Good games are timeless. I have several modulators running on my PC in order to play all the old titles. Sure they look like crap but some of them are so good that all the new games (with all their flash) dont even scratch at them.

MOO didn't do this. People swore that MOO2 was the thing of legends but it lacked completely in so many ways.

My opinion exactly. I usually dont say so because people get worked up easily when critizising "the coming of 4x" but yeah.....didnt hold my interest for long.

We're not ruling out adding espionage to Endless Space 2, but at this stage all features that are making it in for sure have been presented in our Game Design Documents, available for your perusal on our forum:

It's funny reading the delusions about older games.Kinda like this Moo2 obsession.Overrated by the passage of time.

MOO2 is not overrated at all. I prefer a session of this old phantastic game to most modern space 4x games. Only Stellaris is on par in fun to MOO2.

MOO2 isn't anything.

MOO1 is really something, especially when you disagree with the ruling of the vote.

I am not sure what you're looking for but the taunting of the winner of the vote if you decline it was pretty amazing stuff in MOO, not 2. Just mentioning if you hadn't played the original MOO.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
