Fake planets and free tech?

Several times I have gotten the Fake Planet (it's a giant hologram) where I have to invest a certain amount of research for 10 turns to finish it. Sometimes when I get the Fake planet it says that I will get a free technology (when I finish the quest, i.e. after 10 turns). I am not sure that I have ever gotten the supposed free tech reward for this finished quest (if I did get it I missed seeing that I got it).

Has anyone ever gotten the free tech from this quest?

Well, looking at the code, it gives you either the 'Baryonic Shielding' or 'PeV-Scale Accelerators' tech. This is nice until you realize the Sophons start the game with both of those, and that (atleast for me) the Science / Exploration techs are always the first to be researched.

It is otherwise a normal planet, it just triggers an event.

Ha, that'd be why. They should change it to a random era 1 tech IMO
