Essential DLC?
Hello all.
Are any of the DLC considered essential in that they add new features and gameplay mechanics that change the game and improve ones experience?

Supremacy and Penumbra are the only DLC that add major gameplay changes. So I would consider those essential when it comes to changing the game. That being said Penumbra sucks, and Supremacy is good only if you like war. The supremacy dlc contains a new race and the behemoth ships, giant ships that can be modded to either be a planet destroyer or an economy booster. Between the DLC I mentioned I would only get Supremacy, that is my advice to you. If you really want to you can get both and just pick between the content you like, ES2 allows you to disable and activate the content you want which is a huge plus imo.

Many thanks, will check them out.
I have been playing Stellaris and really like the story content, which DLC would you recommend that adds lots of cool stories and quests?

Untold Tales add many population quests for minor factions and Celestial Worlds add one very long and branching lore quest.

If you want story and quests I would get both and the dlc Untold Tales plus Celestial Worlds. Those last 2 dlcs are focused purely on quests/stories. Vaulters also if you want that race and their story/quests. Only problem with vaulters is that it adds no game play changes or interesting content other then what I already mentioned.

Go for Vaulters if you going to play singleplayer. AI don't know how to play the other dlcs.

Untold Tales, Celestial Worlds, and Vaulters would be the best combo I can think of for a new player. The rest of the DLCs have their merits but those are all pretty universally liked.

Supremacy adds the Hissho faction and Behemoths. In my opinion, it's fine, but it's somewhat controversial, most especially the addition of planet destroying weapons. One of these, Obliterators, is especially problematic. You can, however, turn off all planet-destroying weapons while keeping Behemoths (in the galaxy generation settings). Note that currently, AFAIK, Core Crackers are NOT correctly disabled when this is selected, but this is changing pronto (I assume next patch) ^^'.

While you may not be particularly excited by Behemoths, The Hissho are actually pretty damn cool, and they have a great faction quest and background lore. Their honor-based mechanics are also amusingly odd, while remaining enjoyable (again, imo).

The Penumbra DLC is even more problematic. The Umbral Choir is SUPER-OP right now, quite frankly. Currently, they'd make a great "endgame crisis" a la Stellaris when playing as the other races but playing as the UC...well..."ROFLstomp" just about sums it up! If you have any experience with ES2, the UC are an unstoppable, invisible snowball o.o'...

That said, the UC is actually quite fun to play, although I'd recommend playing 1-2 difficulty levels higher than usual, if you want any challenge at all. The hacking mechanic introduced with them (and which they are the best at) is also surprisingly engaging. It also scratches the itch that the lack of espionage has left since ES1.

Mmmm I would say Vaulters, Supremacy and Penumbra, since they're the only DLCs you need to 100% the game in terms of achievements.

yes, it is safe. it is merely a handshake between steam and G2G. Will give you free content and endless space for free if you dont have it yet.

As long as I read about, Amplitude gets knowledge of your Steam ID. My guess is, you offer more personal information by your Steam profile at the moment - if this is what you ask for. I didn't experience any disadvantages from registering on G2G, yet. Anyone else out there who can tell about what Baron Von-Wulfen asks about security when linking Steam account?
