How to increase man power
Hi, im just trying to run my systems as Riftborn race but i`ve got a GREAT problem. my manpower is going very very very low and its currently 0 and its coming whit negative 100 manpower per turn while all i have is 10 manpower generaating per turn! thats INSANE! and its hard to keep up whit all this manpower, and i believe i need to create a new ship to place my newest buyed hero on the fleets so i can use him to fight.

but here is the problem: i dont know why man man power is going down so much, i created a lot of colony ships and colonized above 10 diferent planets at the same time. i dont know how to increase my manpower and whitout it i feel mytempire will be consumed!!! what i do now? i need to increase this thing, but i dont know how!! :/

is the only weay to keep up whit manpower to use my massive industgry amount (~300 wich is pretty big at my stage)to constantly raise new man power? or there are other ways to keep up whitout resorting to infinite doom build?

Where your manpower is going:

Manpower is stored locally in both systems and ships - ships use it to invade enemy systems, systems use it to defend against enemy invasions. If any of your ships or systems are below their max, they'll drain away your empire's global manpower until they fill up. FYI you don't need to be too worried about this unless you're planning to invade/get invaded soon. Your ships fight a little less effectively with low crew (manpower), but it's not a huge difference.

How to get more:

A percent of your food generation in each system will get turned into manpower, which will get saved up in the empire-wide pool if the system is already full. If you look in the military branch of the tech tree, there are a few options to get more.

Very early on, I think first tier, there's a way to conscript (lose) population to get a large onetime boost of manpower. This is great for Riftborn in particular - it will target the food-consuming biological races in your systems, so you can sacrifice conscript them to leave more room for superior Riftborn.

A little later in the military tree, there are buildings that will turn an increasingly large % of food generation into more manpower. If you're playing a race that grows mainly with food (aka not the Riftborn), it's best to wait on these until the system is filled up on population IMO, unless desperate for manpower.

Edit: btw I haven't played Riftborn in a long time, so I'm unsure how well food-based manpower works for them. I do remember that I got most of my manpower from conscripting all my non-Riftborn pops. You'll run out of them, but you don't really need manpower except to invade things - and every time you successfull invade, you get a fresh supply of non-Riftborns to turn into manpower.

one question: if im not fighting for long periods of time, why my man power goes down so quickly? i just used the power that turns a person into 300 man power and in a single turn i lost about 100 manpower! do you know what is draining it too much? i dint even produced a single colony ship our fought someone that turn. maybe i fleed a battle from pirates... does fleeing a battle decrease your man power?

Damage on your ships may incur crew loss if they survive, but it honestly shouldn't be so much that it's draining your entire income. I honestly have no idea where it's all going other than systems and ships but if you haven't expanded much at all either it should really be doing much?

Your systems also need manpower to defend themselves. So each time you build a ship/have a fight with it (hits from hostile fire can kill some of the crew)/or do a ground invasion, you lose troops that get replenished when the fleet is in one of your systems. You also need to replenish/raise troops for every new colony, every time you build a bunker or other upgrade raising your ground forces limit on a colony, or when you've got losses due to a hostile ground invasion. I'm not sure whether a retreat actually kills off some of the crew, though.

well another thing that hapned: i stood quite some time whit a ship of mine into a enemy territory (a pirate one) and i stoof there i think guarding it so i could "siege" they're base and drain some manpower from them. then a pirate showed up and i runed and lost some hp and got to my home system. i think that, whit the loss of hp he had + its constant "siege" into enemy teritory costed some man power even when it dont invaded it (im not sure it hapens) and once i got to my home system the man power got replenished because i got some extra man power and.. i lost only 100 manpower at a fixed rate because of that and its not going to occcur randomly any time soon again. is that right?

You can usually only assign heroes within your own space. So you do need a fleet in orbit around one of your systems to assign a hero to it.

Also another thing i noticed: for some reason, after buying a new hero from the market, i can`t assign him to any fleet i have active right now. i can`t select any fleet to asign him, its all grey and when i hover the mouse it doenst tell why. do i need to create a new fleet (like a colonizer or a scout) so he can be assigned to these flets and explore space?
Fleets need to be around an owned star system for you to assign heroes.

Check Your food production. If it's negative You'll loose pop and manpower constantly.

Hello,

In addition to what other posters have said, keep in mind that the Riftborn faction does not grow using food and have to build their Populations; same goes for their Manpower.
They need to build their Manpower with an improvement ("Fabricated Forces") that converts System Industry into Manpower while it's at the top of the queue.

Cheers,

it says here i have -100 man power income from fleets/systems. i think that this man power degrade per turn is pretty big, and even using "Fabrictaed forces" would help me keep track of my man power, but i dont know yet what is making my man power income goes so excesivilly low. is it some sort of colonization penalty? i have lots of planets colinzed and i need to find a way to reduce this man power penalty very fast and quick. i need to raid some pirates now ...

Did you recently colonize systems? As said above when you colonize systems/planets the local garrison needs to be staffed which uses up manpower. You might want to check how filled each system garrison is and see if that's doing it.
