Do the free updates install and activate automatically?
As in, if I click launch right after main game is done downloading, will the four free updates be included in my game? I've seen some updates where you have to actually activate and install the free updates listed in store, but this one does not allow me to do so.

Hello,

It should be installed by default! You can also right click on the game in your library and check through the "available downloadable content".

Cheers,

Meedoc, thanks for the prompt reply, wasn't expecting that. I don't see any option to view DLC when in the properties of the game from the library. Regardless, I did see the Galactic Statecraft was in my game, so I assume the others are. I hope.

I had to add them all individually to my library, myself.

To make my point, i cannot tell if they are installed or not, so "they should be installed by default" is irrelivant, I need to know if they are installed.
This is what they look like installed.

If it doesn't say that they're installed, then they're not.

I hit download and it just launches the game. does not say installed.

Yeah, I had to go through and individually download them (which just launches the game) for EACH dlc.... a couple times, then it finally added them to the game. Quite the pain, but it does work. Sorta.
Sublustris Nov 16, 2017 @ 11:17pm
I think those DLC don't contain any actual files and their content come with the base game. It's just preperations for future addon support and actual DLCs.

I thought so too, and that they'd be automatic, but it did not unlock the content in the game until I had added them through the store.
Turns out I'd been playing without fighters and bombers for quite a while lol
Sublustris Nov 16, 2017 @ 11:21pm
That's... strange. I didn't have any Target Locked Update installed (not listed in my activated DLCs) and i could use fighters and bombers just fine.

Cheers,

The content is NOT added automatically, even if it is already in the game files.

You need to go to each one through the store page, click "Download", wait for the game to launch ,click Exit, verify in your library (right click->properties->dlc or at the DLC section on library with game selected, under Achievements), go to next dlc, click "download"...

So game launches 4 times for the 4 dlc, which download nothing from the store page (because content is already in but not activated...?) After all of that, exit Steam and launch it again for the DLC to finally show as owned ("in your library") on the store page...

System is strange and very uncomfortable. Also, the button "Content" from the game's main menu is not active yet and, contrary with you did with Endless Legends, there are no icons on the main menu to show us if each DLC is active (at least, to give us some info after this confusing system!)

Anyway, i'm very curious. This is not the system you had with Endless Legends DLC's, and it's exactly the same system Total War Warhammer uses for it's free DLC (go to each store page's dlc, click download, there's nothing to download but instead game launches, etc, etc) Maybe this is some SEGA's thing sort of extra DRM? Because it's really a weird system... :S

I'm not sure why they show up as DLC. Those "DLC" are basically just patch updates to the game which all users are getting anyway.

As long as your main screen shows

V1.1.0 S5 GOLD-Public

That is the Galactic Update which already rolls up all the previous 4 big updates into it.

What? You don't need to download them at all, they are in the game already. Not sure why some people are talking to the contraty but there's 0 need to add the DLC to your library.

Well, there's something strange anyway when patches are on store as DLC's and show as not installed or owned until you do all that process. As i said, this happened already with Total War Warhammer, with content already in the game and with the need to add each one by one through the store (launching game every time) Even more, in that case with TW:W, you did not have the free content to play until you 'activate' the patches-DLC's through the store page. Given that developer and moderator don't seem to know exactly how this works (i mean, the thing with patches as DLC's) i think now even more that has to do with SEGA. I think :S
Sublustris Nov 18, 2017 @ 10:53am
Well, your assumption is wrong. There was Forges of Creation Update for Endless Legend, it's featured as a free DLC with its own store page in a similar fasion, and that was long before Sega. Same with Dungeon of the Endless and its Australium, Death Gamble and Organic Matters updates.
