Just saw this elsewhere, I haven't updated to Catalina but looking at what's in my library to see what might have issues.
"I think I found out how to get Endless Space 2 to run in Catalina. You need to install the MonoFramework-MDK-4.8.0.macos10.xamarin.universal.pkg again. It's in
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Endless Space 2/
I can confirm this works.
Are any of the other Endless apps also compatible but listed incorrectly? My whole Endless collection got taken out by the Catalina change. This one does run once you manually run the mono installer, so maybe the others might too?
On another note, you do have 64 bit set/mentioned in the Mac compatibility section as a requirement, but the game still isn't flagged correctly as runnable. That must be handled separately in metadata somewhere.
I suppose right now it's actually broken until the installer is fixed, but I sure was disappointed when I thought I couldn't play it anymore. I'm glad I found it out was listed wrong.
is there no way to force download the 64bit version?
Steam isn't doing any favours by advertising this game doesn't work on Catailina... but you have to manually install mono and allow keyboard access after downloading from steam.
you do this by going to your install folder..
.../SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Endless Space 2/
and run the mono installer by double clicking on
MonoFramework-MDK-4.8.0.macos10.xamarin.universal.pkg
After installing mono you might need to allow EndlessSpace2.app to have keyboard access by adding it to Input Monitoring in "SystemSettings.app/Security & Privacy/Input Monitoring/"
All this has to be done by hand because the Steam installer doesn't do it's job properly.
Once done you can play Endless Space on Catalina without any issues.
Meanwhile Steam will continue to show the red warning message about 32bit apps not working.
You can ignore it and press the play button and it runs because actually Endless space is now a 64 bit app.
It loaded once and everything worked well and I got through about 50 minutes of the tutorial. I exited and when I tried to go back in I couldn't.
Tried all of these steps but it only loads the SEGA screen and that's as far as I can get. the top 3rd of the screen is taken up by red and black stripes and it crashes the whole laptop (2018 MacBook Air) after staying that way for a minute or two.
Has anyone figured out a way to make this work or is anyone still having issues? Is it just me!?
Cheers
Dave
I uninstall and re-install, still the same problem of 32bits not accepted with Catalina ..
DID ANY ONE CAN HELP ME PLEASE ?
Sure not, as long as this is Endless Space 2 forum, not a Counter Strike Source one. From my point of view you should ask for help over there.

I had the same problem. The game would crash on the SEGA screen, forcing me to reboot my Macbook. None of the workarounds worked.
In the end, disabling the Steam Overlay fixed it.
These are the steps (in the steam client):
1. Right click Endless Space 2 in your library
2. Go to "properties"
3. Under General, uncheck “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”
After that, the game will start normally (for me, at least)
I was able to reproduce this behavior consistently by enabling/disabling the overlay.
Good Luck,
- M.
