EDITED found a better quality video
Also as a joke mostly. It's because this video IMHO best captures exactly what it must have looked and felt like for the riftborn to see our reality to piercing into theirs. You see the perfect ordered geometric white universe suddenly pierced by the chaos and suffering of life in the black corruption, which is probably what life in our universe looks like to them. So every time you try and settle a life filled world with Riftborn, this is precisely what they are seeing and experiencing and why their approval drops so low.
>how was it opened
I don't know. Most probably some kind of strange tech experiment involving Endless technology. AFAIK it's not really properly explained but it does sound pretty much like the sort of thing the Sophons would do. But every time you see a Riftborn ship exit out of hyperspace with the geometric shapes behind it you can kind of imagine that for them it's like leaving the nice white geometric world and arriving in our space which to them is like warping directly into vid related. Which should give you a sense of the scale and perspective on their tragedy, their horror, and their bravery for diving directly into our world in order to try and find a cure for theirs.
(Sorry for the double post)
