Vodyani "brainwash" quest
I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I had one minor civ at 100%, no brainwash option. They were apparently "allies" of Lumeris or whatever. SO I take their quest, that's the only option there. Lumeris takes control of them before I can, somehow didn't even give the assimilation message (they bought them? I'm not so familiar with Lumeris).

So I go the next minor faction. The quest says you can do it via invasion, so I try that. I tried both the middle hunt option, and then the destroy-everything hunt option. Neither of them seemed to work, so I went back to another autosave to try to diplomacy this time (and once again, Lumeris got them first).

So what the hell? How does this work? I see tons of info online saying "at 100 influence" and that's it, and no one mentions how you can possibly due it through war.

What I hated about this quest is that the game actually lies to you saying how you can "if necessary invade the minor civilization to control it" but you cant, if you invade you can only sack or raze and it just resets your progression with them and makes you pay a ton of influence to declare and then stop the war (or to find another minor somewhere that isnt yet allied to riftborn or something, fat chance of that)

not sure how Vodyani work, but Lumeris and the Choir can just yoink minor factions with little or no warning with how expansion works for them.

At least the plus side with the Choir is that you can track them easily by following the vanishing minors.

Its easy, once you reach 100 relationship theres a option to take them over, no other faction can get them from you anymore if not by war and you can drain them anytime without consequences.

Yea I started a new game on sandbox just to make sure.
Turns out the option replaces the TOP (give influence to gain standing) one, so I probably saw it and glossed over lmao.

That said, I have no idea how you can possibly do it by conquest as that didn't work any option I gave.
