Can't assist minor faction?

So i had the luck of having a lot of minor factions spawn close to me and I have been assimilating them one by one. Then I reached some sort of wall. After I completed a quest to assimilate one minor faction, all other minor factions wont give me a quest. Even though I reached the required relationship for said quest to be available. I usually just kill minor factions but in this game i am trying to add them to my empire so I can splice them.

Prior to above, I had assimilated 2 minor factions. Any ideas?

It might be that you have too many other Minor Civilization assimilation quests already, or that the current conditions of the game aren't allowing a quest to be offered. The game checks that you can actually complete the conditions of a quest before offering it to you. In this case, I would suggest either completing some of your ongoing assimilation quests or waiting a bit to see if your circumstances change.

thanks for that information. seems weird as hell though that 4 minor factions wont give me a quest. I didnt have any other quests at the time either. I spent turn after turn trying again. Still no luck and then eventually a faction came and occupied the planet. boo!!

What? Lol, no. There is a limited pool of assimilation quests and each one can be used only once per game. These are not per race. Eventually, as more and more AI request these quests the pool runs out and the game starts displaying this message. Bad design, that it's what it is.

that is interesting but not enough races around them for the pool to run out. unless the pool of quests is 3. It was me and 2 other races in the area and it was very early, i had just got wormholes not too long ago. Rushed them too.

nah, i gave an image. just hissho, vaulters, and me. i maxed out rep with them and i still couldnt do anything. I gave up, if i cant do anything then I cant.

Just open \Steam\SteamApps\common\Endless Space 2\Public\Quests\QuestDefinitions[MinorFaction].xml file with notepad and read all the rules yourself

My guess would be that the AI blocked you from taking assimilation quests by grabbing them first, and the option is greyed out because the quest is still in progress.

I've prevented the AI from sniping minor factions via assimilation quest by rewinding turns and taking the quest before they could, so it makes sense that the reverse would also be true.

Really? Always thought multiple quests could be ongoing, resulting in silly races that nobody knows theyre in.

Yup, I just saw it happen in my current game.

Two minor factions got assimilated out from under me when I had total sovereignty, above 100 approval and no fleets in orbit, meaning the AI must have taken them via quest.
When I went back to the previous turn, the assimilation quests on both of them had been greyed out.

There's no way that's a coincidence, especially since most of the other minor factions in the galaxy still have their assimilation quests open and it's way too early to hit the quest limit.

I feel like there is a hard limit per game. Playing on the biggest galaxy, I had a lot of minor civs near me in a chaotic layout. I completed and assimilated 6 of them, and there are 5 more in the area. And none of them offer a quest. I don't have any active assimilation quests. Basically the game said, "that's it, no more". It's weird. Also happened to end up in a galaxy arm without any other AI, so pretty rare start situation.
