Can't seem to put a hero into a hero ship. Someone explain!

Having a great deal of trouble figuring out how to place a hero into a hero ship, For the life of me, I just can't figure it all out. Used one as a governor but now can't get it into a ship. Can someone help with explicate step by step instruction - preferably with pics. Thanks in advance

If you have appointed a hero by the governor, you must wait 8-10 turn to reassign to the Fleet.

Either click create a fleet or add to a fleet in the hero screen and its done for you. they are next to the button to assign to a system gov in the hero tab.

Most, if not all heroes have skills that will reduce (or even eliminate) the time until reassignment is possible, if selected.

Click the fleet, to the left of the list of ships is a "add hero" button. Alternately, go into the hero menu and assign it to a fleet with the button on the bottom.

Note that you can only assign the hero in your territory; park the fleet on one of your systems first.

You'll want to upgrade the hero's ship after you do this, doubleclick the hero's picture and then go to the ship page.

You can also, btw, have the hero take to the field with ONLY their own ship in the fleet. This is quite useful on occasion; for example, when you want to send a hero to command a fleet in neutral/hostile territory. Just spawn the hero into their ship, travel to the desired fleet, and click "Merge".

Another quick question. How do you delete custom factions? The game doesn't seem to want to let me do it.

Select the custom faction in question and select "Delete" (little skull icon on the left side of the bar under all of the faction portraits, when editing factions, that has "Delete", "Edit", and "Custom factions", top left quadrant of the screen).

I can't do it - it won't let me.... What gives? I wish this game was a little more user friendly. Talk about a steep learning curve! The icons in question (delete and edit) are blurred out - can't use them. All that's left is 'create faction'

That means you don't have any custom faction selected. Make sure you select the (already existing!) custom faction first; that should enable the blurred out icons. You cannot delete the default factions, btw.

As part of the Celestial Worlds DLC, yes. I definitely recommend the Vaulters DLC, as well.
