Error Downloading Endless Space 2 Deluxe Edition on Steam

Hello,

I tried redownloading EE2 on Steam and I got a disk write error regarding a pdf file - last flight of the grey owl.

Please help me, I tried everything Steam related - verifying folder, changing folder, changing download folder. Is there any way to skip this file download?

2)Microsoft One Drive seems to do something ot the My Documents folder that prevents some files from being created. Please try to disable/uninsatall One Drive and see if that addresses your issue

3) If you are encountering issues launching Endless Space 2 with Win10, right click the game icon, go to Properties and in the Compatibility tab, tick the box "Run this program as admin". In some cases your Documents folder might be read-only, if that is the case be sure to change that setting too!

1) tried, did not work
2) I do not have One drive
3) It does not fully download, so it is not an issue of launching - it stops around 9.5gb

This error is strongly suggestive of impending storage failure, especially of electromechanical ("spinner") drives.

it happen to me too in this week, both with ES 2 and EL

I have an SSD, also every other download works fine. Weird thing is that I downloaded the game and played it in the past so I dunno why it does this.

This file is not required for the game. The game does not start? Try disabling auto-update the game. Do you use antivirus?

You cannot any longer truly disable autoupdates on Steam, sadly; been that way for years.

This happens on downloading the game. It stops around 9.1gb out of 10.5 and then the Play option appears. When I press play, the error message above appears and the download does not resume.

Try disabling the digital deluxe upgrad ein your dlc management, that fixed the issue for me

EDIT: from what i found snooping about the issue it seem the download throws an error for a pdf file so i think it may be part of the digital deluxe upgrade. I do really hope this helps it bugged me for hours

I kept getting this same issue when I downloaded the game, but I just brute-forced it by telling it to resume the download until it finally all went through

Hrm.

The only other common causes I can see for this are a) permission error(s) and/or b) some file(s) got flipped to read-only. After that *shrug* ya got me by the short-'n-curlies ^^'.
