Help with Obliterator

I built the Behemoth and later the Obliterator but now i dont know how to fire it. The ship stays in my system next to the enemy ones but i can not launch the rocket.

As far as i know it needs to stay in a (maybe your own) system. When you move it the countdown (far left in the UI) wont go down. You dont need to be anywhere near the system to shoot at it. You can shoot as far as you want. Altho it will increase the traveltime of your missile.

theres a specific button for obliterator fire, it consumes some resources and will fire a round that will travel sometime to the targeted system.

I tried to fired it. First i placed the Obliterator in one of my systems for a few rounds but it didnt charge. There is not a button too only the normal ones.

Fairly new player here, but to answer the original question. There's a button on the far top-left of the Obliterator's function panel. It will be grayed out if you do not have the strategic resources needed to fire a shot. Here's a screenshot - https://gyazo.com/ac91002e8973558dcaa0ebe825c823dc --- I made the mistake of making one (was curious about it) early in my game but since the required resources are 432 of each (high level strategic resources) the thing is just sitting there... and is currently useless, and what makes it worse is that it can not be sold, deleted or scrapped. Uhhhggg...

The cost will go down as the Obliterator charges. It is very expensive to fire an Obliterator immediately after it is made or fired, to discourage surprise nukes and "double-tapping," but if it is fully charged, the cost will be affordable.
Be aware that your population will be quite upset that you used a Weapon of Mass Destruction.
