Unfallen - buying systems
I seem to have heard that the Unfallen can buy systems. What is required to do this and how is it done?

Anyone can do it but the Unfallen are especially notorious for it. Basically, if a system of another player is inside your sphere of Influence(for Unfallen, this means connected to your vines) and you have the right tech, the system will start to change culture. By spending an amount of Influence that is dependant on how long this has been going on for, you can then take over the system without needing to invade. (It doesn't work in Alliance or full-on War, just Peace and Cold War)

Thanks for the info... a couple of follow-ups:

1) What is the right tech? Can you explain what exact technology is required?
2) How, exactly, do you spend the influence to take over the system? What screen has that control mechanism?

Thanks!

What you aim for is called pacific conversion:

2) explained in this guide starting at about 7:30 min. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DVybcfgzR8

The Lumeris buy outposts, to be more precise.

As for how the Influence is spent, click on the peace symbol that appears next to systems' names when they're being converted. The costs start out extremely high but quickly decrease as the turns go by. (Do note though, AI will hate you for doing this to their systems. Human players likely will as well since they don't have a choice in the matter.) (Also, like I said anyone can do this, and against human players the Unfallen actually aren't the best at it since you can't extend vines to peoples' systems without their permission. UE is prolly the best at doing it since your influence spheres will expand rapidly enough to overtake most people because of the Imperials pop granting bonus Influence. However, Horatio prolly profits most from this as the population from the system is left intact when you take it over. Moar genetics!!! A few might starve due to the ownership penalties though.)

(As a final note, having systems of another player under your influence zone, whether vine-based or sphere-based, also increases Influence Pressure onto that player quite a bit. Meaning it's quite easy to make demands of the other player once you have a few systems of his inside your radius.)
